Well, I left him off down there abour 2 hours ago. I hope Coyote Guy comes in.

Coyote Guy is a regular that apparently hangs out in the store. I don't know his name but - hey it doesn't matter. He's a certified hick with the required flannel, goose down, carhartts, ball cap and deep backwoods accent. We call him Coyote Guy because one time when we stopped at the store, the guy was in there talking about the dead thing that was up on the main road. About that was one of the biggest coyotes he had ever seen, how to hunt coyotes, etc. etc. Of course, Wes didn't know there were coyotes around our area - his eyes got great big as he looks up from the coffee machine, looked at Coyote Guy, and then with mental terror on his face, tries to visually locate me in the store. It doesn't help that he can't understand most of what Coyote Guy is saying ..... the twang is that bad.

I really think they could become bosom buddies..........except Wes doesn't chew.

Send my congratulations to Wes... !!

I know its not exactly his ideal job but the job search can still continue while he's working there. I think the most important thing is Wes getting out the house and earning a bit of money himself !!

I'm sure that his contact with customers will generate a few more leads and in the meantime as long as he's happy and enjoying that multitude of tasks it sounds like he'll be performing then its a win win situation all round.

Really glad to hear this news after reading your last few posts !!

Mark :)

Coyote Guy never showed up. Maybe today. Who knows?

I think it's gonna be a bit tougher than we thought. It's a real baptism by fire into americanism. The store isn't barcoded - things have to be keyed in the old way and the beverages aren't marked! So he has to try to remember all the prices and he's not even familiar with all the brands. He's trying to learn the newspapers, snacks, etc. Last night i was trying to tell him what are coke products, pepsi products, etc. Poor guy! He said yesterday it was mostly beer, cigs and lotto ticket sales. He's trying to figure out all the cigarette brands and the different types of lotto tickets. Even though this might be a fairly rudimentary job for a lot of USC's, there's a real steep learning curve if you're not from here.

The worst part was he finished at 10:30 and had to be back at 7 am. I'm doing some housework now and going to start a nice meal in a bit. His favorite is baked steak and I'm going to try and rustle that up.

Well glad to see that he made it thru his first shift. :D

Is there someone there with him showing the new stuff he has to learn?

I am sure he will get along fine in a few days Rebecca.

I really think you missed your calling. You remind me of someone that should be writing novels.

You have a great way of telling stories
