Have you made any progress yet? I got my email from NVC on 12/27 and my lawyer has done nothing. I gave him all my materials in advance. I’m extremely frustrated. What is an appropriate time frame for a lawyer to submit the materials? I feel like 3 weeks is too long and unacceptable / every week is a week I could be with my family in the USA.

A lawyer will never care about your case even half as much as you do; if I were you I’d submit it all myself right now

Our CR1 Journey:

USCIS Stage:

  • Feb 14 2019: NOA1 (NSC)
  • July 31 2019: I129f NOA1
  • Sep 19 2019: I129f NOA2 (Denied - 50 days from NOA1)
  • Sep 19 2019: I130 NOA2 (Approved - 217 days from NOA1)

NVC Stage:

  • Sep 27 2019: Sent to Department of State
  • Oct 31 2019: Case number received (34 days since sent)
  • Nov 1 2019: IV & AOS fees received & paid
  • Nov 14 2019: IV & AOS submitted
  • Dec 18 2019: All docs accepted, but one additional doc requested (5 weeks from submission)
  • Dec 18 2019: Requested doc submitted
  • Feb 19 2020: Documentarily Qualified (9 weeks from 2nd submission, 14 weeks from first submission)

Interview Stage:

  • Mar 11 2020: Interview letter received
  • Apr 1 2020: Interview date
  • Mar 17 2020: Interview cancelled due to COVID-19
  • August 3 2020: Rescheduled letter received, new appointment August 25 2020
  • August 25 2020: Visa approved at interview! (558 days from NOA1)
  • September 10 2020: Embassy received passport in mail
  • September 15 2020: Passport with visa in hand

I think I’m going to do exactly that. What a joke. They get paid to submit documents and they can’t even do that promptly.

Oh, we experienced the same thing with our lawyer (and we have already paid him). In the end we decided to tell him: if you do not upload the documents before the end of the day, we'll do that.

He did it.

It took about 10 /14 days to have all the documents submitted, and we were very disappointed by his behavior (and we, as you, had already sent him all the documents in advance).

Filling in the DS form and uploading AOS and civil documents today... and sent my lawyer a scathing email. I'm amazed that they get paid to waste our time.

Any idea how long before NVC will complete the review and send it to the consulate?

It usually takes around 4-8 weeks, some are reviewed faster, some are slower; not really sure why. Once the case is complete it will stay at NVC until the consulate is ready to schedule you for your interview, this part depends on how busy your consulate is

Well less than 24 hours and our case is now approved! :D I am so happy... so the NVC takes like a month....right 😛 lol I wish. I would love this to be all over in 4 months... perhaps that is a little optimistic?

Hey Matty,

As for us, we got the NOA2 on Nov26, the file was sent to NVC on Dec10th, and they received it on Dec19th (we called as soon as they open their office). Now (Jan17th) we should get our Case Number any time.

So it takes more than a month to get your case number. But again, there are no rules, some people get them faster.

It is great you got your NOA2, welcome to NVC! Join us on

Take care,

Alix

you're not the only one, I  put the paper in late April and my case is still "Recived" no updates yet, keep in mind they only update their system every 15th of each month, so keep your eyes open around February 15th for an update.

Hi LIfiler17,

How are you?

I remember we submitted almost at the same time and I was wondering whether you have any news from NVC.
