New this morning:

 

One of the 'sham charities' she set up was a non-profit training center, which was supposed to offer courses to be a nurse. To do this is must be compliant with the State Board. It also received money from the Dept of Labor through federal grants and from the lotto/gambling fund. It hasn't been compliant for some time, despite still trying to claim it was - all the while charging the city money for rental fees. It had prior issues with the IRS. All three fired aides + Pugh were on the board or co-owned this charity, while she also sat on boards that made decisions on laws that might affect it. Furthermore the person she had in charge, had previously been convicted of severe financial crimes involving theft of over $800,000 from a local doctor, while she was his employee. Went to jail and violated her parole. Her lawyer interviewed last night claims that Pugh has not fled the state, that she is home. He further states she is still extremely sick and... this is his wording.. ''not lucid''. Ummmmmmm????!!! Neighbors (most angry) dispute claims she is at home. They say they have seen no one go in and out for weeks.

 

UMMS was served with a grand jury subpoena.

 

The FBI had been investigating her for over a year, and rumors still persist that they may have stumbled upon it, while investigating ''something else''.

Seems standard operating procedure, now she might have got a bot more greedy than most.

She is expected to resign somewhat forcibly today but the fallout from the scandals continue. One newest tidbit is bogus checks for large donations into her election bid, under the names of real persons (one person who makes barely minimum wage unknowingly had a check for many thousands written in his name). It's unknown if she will make an appearance. Her attorney has called a press conference this afternoon. The de-facto Mayor will become the official Mayor, but I've got to say while he's staying away from this scandal, he is not blemish-free.
