So my dads I-130 recently got approved and trying to figure out what the next step is. Did some reading and from what I read was that we need to let NVC to put a hold and send in 601A, (but what else do we need to do?)  Is this correct? We are using a lawyer, and my dad called and got the secretary or assistant, not sure who, but it wasn't the lawyer, and she told him that we need to wait to get a notice from NVC first before doing anything else. But from I was reading on here and other places was to have NVC do a hold so they don't schedule the interview yet. So what are the steps to follow to make this easier, faster, when doing I601A after the I130 has been approved.

Thanks,

When you get the case number ,  hold off on paying the next fees and submitting the needed documents

but email or write (with the case number ) that you will continue the process / i think notices say keep in touch frequently so the case stays open/

i believe you have a year but i stand corrected if a more experienced VJ member knows or the time for this has changed

i am sure they will chime in

You don’t need to call NVC to hold off your documents. They don’t schedule the interview until you submit the fees and documents which they are gonna ask you later. You can just delay submitting those.

Is your dad currently in the US or already left US? That will decide whether you need to delay NVC process or not for i601a or i601.

Ok thanks, and we will make sure we do talk to the lawyer and not the assistant, secretary, ect to see what he has to say. But def looking for more info from people who have gone through the same process with a lawyer or have done it on their own. Oh and my dad is here in the US.
