So right now all we have is an 18 month extension letter that expires in 2 days. You’re saying that we don’t have to do anything and just keep waiting.

I get that the USCIS moves at their own pace and sometimes that may be glacial but I see this as a potential problem. For example, my wife is in the process of applying for jobs, but we are at the point if a potential employer asks her for proof that she is in the country legally (Which they are required to do), she will not be able to provide any government document to substantiate that.

Yup, you don't HAVE TO do anything, meaning nothing happens to your status, it's still going to be the same no matter if you have valid proof of it or not. An expired extension letter doesn't equal an expired status.

The second part of my post clearly described what to do if you feel that you need proof of your status.

Thanks but the second part of your post stated,

“If you have an emergency where you have to travel outside the US you can call USCIS and ask for an infopass, they call you back with an appointment to go have your passport stamped so you can easily come back into the US again“.

In my opinion that is actually a completely different  scenario than what I described, which was trying to show a potential employer objective evidence of legal status.

If you don't think you need a stamp to get a new job (just the way you would if you were going to travel), then don't get one. It's completely up to you to decide if you want to get one or not. I'm only telling you how it works.

My extension letter is expired and I want to travel for Christmas, which is not an emergency. Can I still get a stamp?
I got an RFE after like a year and they received it two months ago but nothing yet. Thanks

Annnnnndddddd... that's a wrap on ROC. Today's interview was literally the best experience I've had with immigration officers since starting this journey. After almost a year and a half, we are approved for ROC. The interview was scheduled at 1:30 pm but we were not called in until 1:45ish pm. The interview went via tablet, which was a little weird in the beginning but you'll get used to it.

She only asked two questions to both me and my husband: "Where do you work?" and "Explain what you do at work?" She said that everything looks great and organized (bought a neatly organized binder with me with all documents from K-1 up to now) and that she will make a decision within an hour, but not to worry, my 10 yr green card will arrive in 10-14 days.

3 processes down, one more to go. She also mentioned she saw I was in pending interview for N-400 and with how fast Nashville Field Office is going, I would be a citizen before or by January 2021.

Almost done!

They should automatically send you a new extension letter, I thought. But safest bet would be scheduling an appointment at your ASC or Field Office for an I-551 Stamp.

I am in the same endless waiting, I applied ROC in May 2019 still waiting for the approval. I applied for my N-400 earlier this year and completed the biometrics on Dec 3rd 2020. Hoping to have the combo interview soon.

At least you've had biometrics! That's progress. My husband's N-400  was just delayed an additional four months to April 2022.

Still waiting for ROC approval; filed in May 2019.

We finally had interview on 12/17. Interview went very smooth and approval of ROC was granted. Received new green card on 12/26.

Also, while we were waiting for this we had filed for citizenship in late September and interview for that was 12/28. This also was approved so now we just have to wait for notification of oath taking ceremony.
