Yes, I'll start working on it once I have the new green card in hand!

How would you compare the I-751 to the N-400 application? What do you think about filing online versus via mail? I've heard a lot of people have had technical difficulties with the online option.

How would you compare the I-751 to the N-400 application? What do you think about filing online versus via mail? I've heard a lot of people have had technical difficulties with the online option.

The i-751 is a very simple form, it really doesn't require a whole lot to remove the conditions so the form doesn't ask for much and apart from the typical evidence of bonafide marriage there really isn't many other requirements. Obviously the N-400 is more indept and has many more questions. The evidence of bonafide marriage was about the same for me on both petitions, just slightly less with the N-400. And with this petition I know I will have an interview in the end, so there's always that extra chance to bring even more evidence.

This was the first time I filed anything online, and I was pleasantly surprised. Before I created an account and started filling out the online form, I went through the paper form to get an idea of things that would be asked for. That was a mistake, the paper form looked so difficult to fill out, and so many things that didn't even apply to me at all. It just gave me anxiety.

Then I finally started filling out the online form and it proved to be so easy, so many questions that you never even see because the online form removes stuff that doesn't apply to you. And instead of a xx pages long paper form with a really bad layout that easily makes you confused, you just get one or two questions on each page, making it so much easier to see everything clearly and it's much less cluttered (I feel like all USCIS paper forms are so cluttered and the questions are so cramped together and blah).

My recommendation to you is to start the online application now, today, this minute. You obviously don't submit until you're ready, the online form gives you all the time you need. The info you fill out will be saved for 30 days, then if you need more time you just change something small on the form and save, and your 30 days will start over. Don't forget to change that info back though, so it's correct. So yeah, you can take as much time as you need.

Had I known how easy and smooth it was to start the application and just leave it there until I was ready to submit it, I would've started as soon as I became eligible instead of staring at that horrible paper form.

I personally didn't have any issues with my uploads but it's a well-known issue, yes. I tried to minimize the risk of anything going wrong by using Microsoft Edge browser, and I made sure to upload everything right before clicking "submit". I also uploaded every single "required document" twice. I first uploaded them under the specific categories where they should be uploaded (like the greencard has one upload area, the old divorce decree has one upload area etc) and then I also uploaded those same documents under the "additional evidence" as well.

So in case the documents disappeared from the "required documents" upload area, then hopefully they would still be saved under "additional documents". Since all my uploads were successful there are now double of some of the documents. But rather that than none. 😁

Hope this helps!

I uploaded about 160 PDF files all-in-all, more or less all of them were evidence of bonafide marriage (other than my husband's old divorce decree and the greencard).

Thank you for your long and helpful reply! I'll start my online application as soon as I have the time and energy. Not looking forward to collecting all the bona fide evidence again after doing it a couple of weeks ago for the RFE. Oh well!

Totally get it, enough is enough. I honestly think I would've waited a year or two with filing the N-400 after getting the ROC approved if it wasn't for the fee raise that is likely to happen soon. It would've been nice to catch my breath in between and just enjoy having a 10 year greencard for a while.

Hi guys just got a notification on my i751 after 14 months of waiting submitted on April 10,2019 .I got a RFE the notice as not yet been received...I'm just wondering is it better to get an RFE. And what are my chances of getting approval without interview..its a devorce waver so I'm guessing the RFE is for the devorce decree

A RFE is better than a denial.  100% of the time.  Plus you don't have to pay again.
