NVC has the emails from the emails provided in the I-130 petition, correct?

I was just about to ask that! I wasn’t sure if they will email us the case number using the email provided in th petition or if we needed to call them. I did not submit a specific form that allows email and text notifications update so I relied on snail mail or the online website. So wasn’t sure if it still applied in the NVC stage.

Today I checked our NOA2 dated Feb. 20 and it says "If you have not received any correspondence from the NVC within 30 days, you may contact the NVC by email at NVCINQUIRY.state.gov.... etc." So I sent an email and thought I would try to call as well since we have not heard anything (either by email or letter) and it has been almost 6 weeks since NOA2.  After being on hold for almost an hour at NVC, I got a very nice person and she checked our NOA2 receipt number and told me our file was received at NVC March 7, and to expect up to 8 weeks to get a case number, and that it will come via email to both petitioner and beneficiary.  So the case number should come by early May--exciting!  We are ready with all our documents for the NVC stage, just waiting for the case number now.  In the meantime we are meeting in London and Paris for ten days for Easter, in April.  Good luck with the waiting everyone!

That’s great that you finally called! The good news is that you now know when they received it and even better news is that they are actually giving case numbers to those whose cases were received the last week of February. You will be getting a case number very soon hopefully! Calling nvc was the worse because they always hung up on me because of high call volume and finally one day I ended up calling them right at 9am and finally the call went through.

Wow. So frustrating honestly. I actually emailed them on the 25/3 still no response from them. I'll give them a call tomorrow.

Thanks for replying 😊

No problem.  I just wanted to give you my experience and theory about it.  Thought you would prefer that over a generic positive comment since I was in the same boat.

Regarding email, you can do that but it took me a week to get a response from them, and it was a generic one.  I would just call every other day if I'm anxious about it.  Good part is that 8 weeks is almost up since the receipt date.  So you can really get their attention by then if you don't have case #.

NVC says up to three weeks assuming none of your documents are rejected. For me it took them 8 days the first time. They rejected 3 documents with an unclear explanation. Took 12 days for them to review the second time and they rejected two documents with NO explanation given. After 80 attempts of trying to get them on the phone, finally after being on hold for 1 hour someone answered and she couldn’t initially figure out why they were rejected. Took her 5 minutes. Imagine if the NVC’s own employees can’t understand the notifications and instructions how do they expect the public. Just resubmitted today.

Anyway lessons learned:

1. Make sure all documents are the right side up (mine was vertical but should have been oriented horizontally).

2. Double check when submitting police reports if your country requires fingerprints to be included.

3. For taxes ONLY submit the 1040 in the Tax section. Any other documents related to your return (i.e., form 8886, tax worksheets, W2, etc) submit separately in the other documents section.

4. Absolutely call the NVC IMMEDIATELY if any document is rejected no matter what the explanation says on CEAC. Tell them a document was rejected and you want them to tell you why. (Because the notification on CEAC is extremely unclear or non existent.)

Save yourself the trouble of multiple rejections and weeks of endless delays.

Lastly, all Americans on this forum need to write your Congress and Senate person and tell them the Dept of State NVC processes and operations need to be investigated by the IG. This is our tax dollars at work...I mean NOT at work. Wasted and misused.

Congratulations!! and thank you for this.. very helpful :)  also wondering if you also tell us what all documents you shared with NVC.. just want to be double sure about everything  😛

I received my case ID & Invoice Number in email yesterday. Never called them to give email ID, I guess they just took it from our application. Planning to upload all documents by end of this week. I requested the Police clearance from Canada under privacy act as I read sometimes they need that as privacy act PCC is more detailed check or something. Can someone please give any inputs if this makes sense?
