Unfortunately, you really have to give NVC exactly what they are asking for. What immigration file are they requesting? Can't you request another from the original source where you got it?

I called NVC.. if you can not get the file and the United States has the records you just need to write a statement saying so.

Just curious. Why did you submit by mail? Did NVC ask you to?

Hello Everyone,

We paid the fees at NVC and now it shows paid. Currently filling out forms and affidavit of support. The picture we need taken does that have to be with eye glasses. I wear prescription eye glasses and my lawyer requested to take picture with it. Meanwhile I found that unusual so checked online and it says after 2016 all photographs for visa need to be WITHOUT EYEGLASS.

Can anyone please confirm if

Correct, eyeglasses are no longer allowed.

https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/photos.html

"Starting November 1, 2016, eye glasses will
no longer be allowed in visa photos."

"Effective November 1, 2016, eyeglasses are no longer allowed in new visa photos, except in rare circumstances when eyeglasses cannot be removed for medical reasons; e.g., the applicant has recently had ocular surgery and the eyeglasses are necessary to protect the applicant's eyes. A medical statement signed by a medical professional/health practitioner must be provided in these cases. If the eyeglasses are accepted for medical reasons:

  • The frames of the eyeglasses must not cover the eye(s).
  • There must not be glare on eyeglasses that obscures the eye(s).
  • There must not be shadows or refraction from the eyeglasses that obscures the eye(s). "
