I would like to thank all of you visa journey members. Without you guys, I would have missed much preparations. It was good and comforting sharing our experiences along the way.

So went through the interview process, no big surprises just like our other friends experiences.

Question asked were:

1. When did you know get to know your spouse?

2. How did you know your spouse?

3. when did we get married?

4. when did your spouse go USA?

5. In which visa category?

6. Which major was he enrolled in?

7. was he married before?

8. Does your spouse have any children?

These were the questions and got approved right there and then.

Asked when should i expect my passport, officer said in about a week or little longer.

Once  thank you visa journey family. I am so thankful to you all.

Yes. Thank you for all your help.

You disappeared for such a long time that I was pretty much sure you were approved. I kept coming online to see if there's a confirmation from you. Congratulations buddy! May everything in your life be as awesome as your visa interview! 🙂

Do you know whether the tax return was efiled or physically mailed out to IRS? Usually if it was efiled, the transcripts are available much sooner than if it was physically filed. My husband also filed his just before the deadline and we got the transcripts in a week. If you don't have the transcripts before your interview, take a copy of the tax return form he filed along with his 2018 W2.

I actually have no idea if he physically mailed it, I think he filled online since the Tax Transcript from the last 3 years were downloaded. I will ask him if he have available the transcripts, otherwise I will ask him for the tax return and the 2018 W2. Thank you!

Ok so after speking with him he will send me a copy of the summited federal taxes. He has to do a correction due to getting a tax form late but I think it will be fine with the copy of the summited taxes.

You can ask him to check if the transcripts are available before your interview. If everything is correct, most likely it will be available to download. If not just take the 1040 and w2 and if asked explain why you don't have the transcript. 🙂

If you are looking for a hotel close to the embassy, Trident Hotel and Sofitel are the closest. Only 3 minutes walk to the embassy but they are 5 star hotels so over Rs 10,000 per night. Otherwise if you are looking for cheaper options, there is Hotel Sanjary Palace about 1.9 kms from the Embassy. There are some Oyo hotels as well near the Equinox Commerce Centre.

Well, if you're looking for mediocre hotel and not fussy about surroundings then HOTEL PEARL BKC INN, its just 5 -7 min drive and 15-20 min walk from embassy.

You can book from OYO or on spot. good rooms. Veg restaurant available.

Thanks for input ,i booked Sofitel as it is at walking distance from consulate since i wasn't sure about the public transportation there specially in early mornings.

Quick question: I have my interview on 15th May. During the NVC process with uploaded the 2015, 2016 and 2017 Tax Transcripts of our sponsor to the CEAC. NVC approved those documents and we finished with the case in the CEAC so we received the CC email and the embassy interview appointment. My questions is related to 2018 Tax Transcript. Will the Embassy ask for these transcript? My sponsor filled the Tax declaration n one of the last days before the deadline so right now he doesn't have the Tax Return Transcripts for the IRS and therefore the IRS Tax Transcripts is not "valid".

I'm not sure about this because NVC approved the IRS Transcripts for 2015/2016/2017 and the Embassy should ask only for the same documents uploaded and approved on CEAC...

They can certainly ask you for 2018 transcripts ,usually they are available after one week you file your taxes but in case if itsn't available by that time ,you can take W2's and tax returns and explain them that transcripts aren't available yet. I have the same situation ,i filled my taxes in February but IRS send me letter this month and that they need my health insurance form to process it  so i requested them that i need to have those tax transcripts available by first week of May or they issue me a letter stating one so they send me a letter for immigration  stating why my transcripts aren't available in case they ask one . If your sponser income is good in last 2-3 years or in the last 3 year tax transcripts ,there is very likely they don't even ask you for transcripts. Usually they ask who have low income just to verify if he is still earning the minimum require.

You're welcome! Ola and Uber operates well there. Unless there is a strike, transportation will not be in issue. My husband wanted to book Sofitel as well but I am very stingy when it comes to booking hotels 😜 so I ended up booking Sanjary Palace. If Ola/Uber decides to go on strike on our interview date, we will have a good 15 mins walk to the embassy. 😁Good Luck for your interview!

Hi all,

So my case changed from "NVC" to "San Jose" on April 15th when I received my interview date (May 13).  In Costa Rica, the embassy was closed the entire week 4/15-4/19 for Semana Santa (Easter).  On CEAC tracker it still says "in transit". Today would be day 11 including weekends that it says "in transit".  Should I be worried it hasn't changed to 'ready' yet?
