Haven't filed 2018 taxes yet - will this be an issue when filling out form I-864EZ?

Since I advise just that, no, I don't think it's risky. What would be risky is for your wife to show up at the interview without the 2018 transcript.

Ok, well that is good to hear. I just dropped the ball with filing 2018. I thought I could just file single like always and get them done in an afternoon but just recently did I find out that I need to file married even if my spouse has no SSN. On top of that, I just received the NVC case number which is great but the timing of everything is a little inconvenient. Thank the lord for VisaJourney!

I completed my 2018 taxes today but since they are being paper mailed in the IRS probably won't have them/look at them for awhile. Do you think it is worth attaching them to my I-864EZ with a note stating that they have been filed and paper mailed? Along with submitting 2017. Shouldn't hurt, right?

If they have been filed, then you should be showing numbers from 16, 17, and 18, and providing a complete copy of at least 2018, because NOW, 2018 IS, the latest return you have filed.  Filed means filed.  It does not mean filed and transcript is currently available.  Literal, literal interpretation is applicable here.

Ok, sounds good.

I understand that my wife has to take my 2018 taxes to her interview. The NVC states that all original documents must be brought. I have originals of my taxes and W2s, but my taxes also include 1098 and proof of insurance forms that will be sent to the IRS. Will it be an issue if photocopies of these are presented at the interview? I only have one original of some of these documents, either the IRS gets them or NVC...or I request additional.

The only thing you could provide as an original in the AOS category is an original signature on the affidavit itself.  Depending on Consulate, you may be uploading documents to NVC anyway.  When I say literal, I also mean you must pay attention to the specific context each time.

To illustrate, please copy and paste the exact instructions you are reading that give you that impression and I'll explain what they ACTUALLY mean.

That is what shows when I log in to my NVC case for the I-864EZ. I am interpreting the "all" literally.  Included with my 2018 taxes is proof of insurance forms and 1099s. I only have one original of these that I was planning on sending to the IRS. Would photocopies of these be acceptable?

Yes, but I would expect there is more context there.  It is typical to mail the one and only original tax return to the IRS, or in most cases never even print one, because you file electronically.  Typically, when referring to "documents" they mean civil documents which would mean (original) "certified copies", or perhaps an original police report, etc.  What for instance, if your W2 form was downloaded and printed?  Is THAT an original.  Apply some common sense.

For Tax Transcript - unless they really want to be picky: a scanned copy should not have less weight any copy of a electronic copy. Normal documents embedded with signature and date of signature to be called original while Tax Transcript we receive are just an electronic copy.
