Hi,

I have read that if your partner (the sponsor) has a previous marriage that this can slow down the processing when the application is being reviewed. Has anyone else read this or know anything about it?

thanks, Team April!

I am a US sponsor who filed for a k-1 visa last year for my fiancé. I have more than one prior marriage and he had one prior marriage. Our petition was approved right in the middle of when all the other people from our filing month were receiving their approvals, so the prior marriages did not affect the timeline in our case.

the VJ estimated NAO2/adjudication of 129F shows as mid-July....does this seem a little fast? I thought it would be a minimum 5 months for the USCIS and was not thinking we would hear anything until Labor Day or after (filed first week of April).

Their are not minimums or maximums. USCIS has a website that gives you "current" () processing times. BUT, they are never accurate. We recommend that you keep your eye open on this thread where you will see others opining to what is the situation with their case. Also, as you know, VJ has a timeline estimator. For some it's spot on for others not so. So buyer beware.

Sure! And just as a side note, I did receive an RFE (request for evidence) because they couldn’t make out the case number that was stamped on the copy of one of my divorce decrees. To them it was illegible, but to me it looked fine. 🤷‍♀️ But approval of my petition came within a few days of me submitting a slightly clearer copy of the decree.

Nice work @BBGG

I'd be interested to see back end data that we aren't really able to track right now, like:

  • average timeline for people with prior marriages
  • average timeline for people with criminal histories
  • average timelines for people immigrating from Latin America, Asia, Africa, North America, Europe, etc etc

Also, average timelines based on the size of the I-129F application packet:

  • 15-20 pages
  • 21-50 pages
  • 50-100 pages
  • More than 100 pages

Having access to data like that could really help fine tune the process, and be of great help to both USCIS, and users of this site.

USCIS could care less but VJ applicants would find it valuable.

What is the average NOA2 for K-1 petitioners with a criminal record?

As far as i know, VisaJourney doesn't ask users whether they've had prior marriages or criminal histories, so it's not possible to extract timelines based on those circumstances.  They do track by countries though, so it is possible to extract average timelines for people immigrating from different regions.  I've already done that analysis too, but I have it broken out by each individual country, which is a bit overwhelming. I can try to find some time to group them by continent.

Has everyone seen a few March approvals are starting to happen!? Can't believe it seems to be moving so fast. My original predicted NOA2 date was in Aug; it has moved forward to early July now, but I am now hoping it may actually happen in late June. Too ambitious?

Maybe an optional checkbox to indicate criminal history, divorce, IMBRA, children, etc etc is something we can suggest for profiles for the future.

I think if the information was hidden from a person's public profile, but available for back end analytics, it might be useful.

(or it might open a completely different can of worms).

Eh....it's something to think about.  :hehe:

For accurate information to be extrapolated the information being shared needs to be 100% accurate. I'm sure that criminal history or IMBRA issues would skew the numbers and your information would be weighted. As it is, there is so much information available to you here on VJ to answer most processing data that I think it's best to let "sleeping dogs lie".

If we're sending suggestions to the VisaJourney folks, I would add one:

Allow us to see more than 10 immigration timeline records at a time, and/or allow us to download subsets of that data as a CSV or Excel file so that we can do our own analysis easily.  It took me a long time to pull out the last 1000 records (yes, I went through 100 pages and copy-pasted them into an Excel spreadsheet).  You might be surprised at what kind of ideas your users come up with when you facilitate crowdsourced analysis.
