     That sounds better. Even if there are no serious challengers, I generally do not like to see someone run unopposed. Especially for something as important as the presidency.

  Right, and I wouldn't want to see us thinking like that. No matter how good a president may be, we have limits for a reason. Russia has a constitutional 2 term limit now as well, but look what a farce that turned out to be.

I concur.  However, if he ran without other candidates, the media would fill the opposition's role.  In fact, they'll do it regardless.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

  Two consecutive terms. Last time Putin's 2 terms as president were up, Dimitry Medvedev was nominated as the presidential candidate, and then Putin was appointed Prime Minister, basically 2nd in command. After Medvedev's 1st term as president, he appointed Putin as the new presidential candidate and after Putin "won" the election, Medvedev became prime minister. 

 

  The farce will conclude only when Putin gets tired of it. I'm not sure it matters much. Chances are high the next guy up won't be any better.

Has echoes of declaring our 2016 election invalid or impeaching Trump/Pence, thus making Pelosi the president.  She would then appoint Felonia Milhous von Pantsuit as her Vice-President, then resign.  A perfect plan.

Particularly when all the power-brokers are lined up against you.  I imagine the Ukraine deep state and media will demand a special counsel investigate possible Russian involvement.
