NVC provided us with 2 numbers one is long starting NPL(followed by 10 digits) and second 433(followed by 8 digits) .  they said one is for them and second for embassy. Am I right in thinking that  433xxxx number is case number?

Case number begins with NPLXXXXXXXXXX. NPL is the three letter signifier for your embassy.  Second number just put it away as it is not used for anything but one never knows if it is needed if some procedure changes in the future.

How will you track your case once you receive the case number?

I would go to the first page the first post of this thread and read the TIPS as it is outlined there.

How long has it taken typically from date of receiving case number to date receiving the notice that case is ready to be shipped?

There are too many variables to answer your questions. @DaveAndAnastasia did a great job to answer the question but if you notice he sighted a number of variables and then are more. It can be 1-4 weeks depending on where you fall in the approval window.

@Greenbaum, is there another thread created that we should be following after things get shipped from the NVC to the respective consulates or is that where we part ways and go bug people in the sub-forums?

I have to get rid of you somehow. So yes this is where we part ways and you go bug people in the sub-forums. Think I gave you the link in an earlier post.

Does it happen to others too. At some point when I don't have what I want I just don't get happy when I have it.
For this visa, I am at a stage where I still can't take my embassy appointment (cause they are so long to ship from nvc) that i am just bored and know I won't even rejoice when I can take it. I will just do it.

Like this just went over a stage where I can't be happy anymore. It's just too desperating I don't want to hear about it.

Hang in there...    when together on US soil, all the frustrations with getting the visa will be behind and you will be starting a new chapter of challenges and creating a life together.     It is hard in the space of not knowing when all you want is to see the variables defined to have some sense of predictability.     All is going to come together real soon...

Your working your brain too much on this process. I recommend stepping away for a week from VJ and concentrate on yourself and what you like to do. At times we put so much pressure on ourselves that we began to start overthinking the process. You have to trust the process and wait for things to happen. Your approval and next steps will come in time. After you have taken some time for yourself come back refreshed.

• If you haven't already here is some reading that can be done and with that some prep work you can be doing while you are waiting. Once you have received your P3 letter on what to do if you would be so kind as to send me a copy via VJ PM I use it for those who come behind you and currently have no information from Italy. Thanks.

I left for a week, once I saw my case hadn't been added to the shippment may 1st and 2nd and still had to wait for next week shipments. It is unbelievable they have so many cases to deal with but they end up shipping twice a month! It's so bad

Look at it this way...your case is moving way faster than you anticipated when you first initially filed the petition isn't it? You got your NOA2 in a little over 3 months rather than the estimated 5.5 to 7 months, not to mention the fact that you got your case # assigned 4/26 which makes it too late to ship at the end of April. My guess is it will go out with the shipment next week. This is a waiting game and takes a huge amount of patience, nobody said it would be easy. Do you have all of your documents together for when you get your P3, if not take this time to do so that way when you get the "ready" from your embassy you can send them what they request. Chin up, you are almost on the home stretch and the really long wait is behind you. Don't forget that most of us following this thread are in the same boat as you. As a wise man once told me, "don't overthink this process."
