Am I correct in assuming the status order for the CEAC tracker is:

At NVC
In Transit
Ready
......
AP/Approved/Denied?

The first 3 are at NVC and are correct the others are at the embassy after the interview.

AP

Ready

AP

Issued

These steps can effectively happen within hours or days or months as you know each embassy is different.

I have been searching around but couldn't find anything. Any idea what the packet 3 looks like from my country?

NVC has not received our petition yet, last I checked was on 4/22. I will try them again on Monday.  NOA2 was on 4/9.

All I have is this https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-ba/niv/information/required_docs which should be a good start. Also read what is here on VJ http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=Bosnia-Herzegovina&cty=Sarajevo.

If you get a copy of the P3 letter and would like to share it with me, I use it to help others after you are well on your way. Just PM me here on VJ when you have a copy.

And use the advance search here on VJ to look for information needed for the interview https://www.visajourney.com/search/

Good Morning... i noticed on the NOA2, my fiance's name is missing the hyphen in his name but everything else including the spelling is correct. Would that be an issue? if so, how am i going to have them change that ? 😡

Many times we see typos and they are not a problem or something to worry about. The final document that needs to be correct is the VISA everything else is secondary.

I called today and got two series of numbers for our  case and none of them works for me for CEAC tracking lol

One of the series starts with ESM the other is just numbers. Anyone had a similar issue?

NOA2 4/1

NVC receive : 4/23 even though they sent me an email on the 20th informing of the receipt.

BTW: I used the hangouts app to make the calls and it is for me a lot cheaper than using phone credit, even from outside the US so you might want to try it!

One of the series starts with ESM the other is just numbers. Anyone had a similar issue? ESM is your embassy designator where your interview will take place. The second number is a receipt number and is rarely used.

If you are new to CEAC there is a nuance that needs to be explained.

As a K1, when checking your case online at CEAC.state.gov you have to select "immigrant visa" as it is treated like as such even though it is a "non-immigrant visa".

Technically the K-1 is a non-immigrant visa but it is treated like an immigrant visa because of the AOS. It is kind of a ba$tard. Non-immigrant treated like an immigrant. Other non-immigrant visas do not usually end up with green cards!  The K-1 on its own is a single entry, short time limit visa that expires 90 days after POE. You are a non-immigrant (90 days limit) with immigrant intentions (GC). That is why it is a non-immigrant visa treated like an immigrant visa.

You have three stages 1) transit - shipment is in the air or soon will be, 2) received - physical case file is at the Embassy and 3) ready - your case is ready to schedule and complete your interview.  These will be your current state or status to your case file once you have received the case number.

If your having problems with the CEAC site timing out when looking up your case it's because the system is trying to cross reference the immigrant case number with the non immigrant AA number.  You select Non-Immigrant from the drop down menu and select the proper Embassy location. Then you enter the AA number from your DS-160 number and presto...a much quicker and consistent response. The output is the same but you no longer have the problem with the system timing out while doing the search...
