I have panic attack right now because It was often travel to Canada over the weekends due my cousin's and relatives moved there it was just family visit

Did you get your interview notice?

I applied for my N400 in April 2019 based on 5 years from ND. I fall under MN office which is by far the longest wait in processing applications from ND. My case completion shows June 2020. I travel extensively to Canada as well as my husband and his family lives there. My attorney said as long as I can prove strong ties to US, I should be fine for the interview (I work in US, bank accounts, lease, car etc). Please share your interview experience.

question! If I’m changing my name, do I still Get to do the Oath the same day if approved?

thank you!

Great news!

I believe the officer that interviewed us said that you can't take it the same day if you're changing your name.

Great news!

I believe the officer that interviewed us said that you can't take it the same day if you're changing your name.

I  googled Newark Office name change during naturalization interview and same day oath.. this is what I found.. very interesting and actually happy that my state does this all the same day

"These testimonies helped me a lot as I was getting ready for my interview so I thought I would share my experience of the last step of getting my citizenship on October 2nd.
I was looking for parking in Newark but behind the immigration building there's a parking lot that costs a maximum of $20. Just a note, If you park on broad street past 4 pm you will be towed.
My father's appointment was at 10 AM and my mother and my appoitment was at 11:30. We got there at 9:40 and waited, and waited, and waited some more. I asked the people around me and they waited about two hours from their appointment time to take their interview. Our family was called up at 1:30 PM altogether. We submitted our n 400 applications together so the same person interviewed us back to back. First my father, my mother and then me. My dad's writing question was "we pay taxes" and mine was, "George Washington was the first president." We all studied very hard for the civics questions and my parents stayed up practicing their writing. So when we took it, we all agreed it was very easy. We were prepared for more intense probing questions about the application but the interviewer just went over questions and nothing more.
Now, my main concern was taking the oath at the same day as the interview. Thankfully, Newark is one of the few offices that do it all on the same day. Then I got worried that because I wanted to legally change my name that it would have to be in front of a judge on another day. When I asked, thankfully, it was all on the same day. I REPEAT even when you change your legal name, you can take the oath on the same day as your interview at the Newark NJ offices. The only hold up was that when you change your name, the offices need another passport photo. So I went to a place that was 2 minute walk away, paid $13 and came back in time before our name was called up again.
Anyways, it was a long day waiting in there but praise the lord, now I'm a U.S. Citizen!"

occasional lurker on this thread...

Went into Newark for my interview today. Submitted application via lawyers on April 19th.

Arrived at 1245 for 1pm appointment. Got called into interview by IO at 2pm and was done with interview in 30 mins.  Most of my interview actually focused on questions about when / why I came to the US (1995 / college) and what I’ve done since (went into details of my job history and date on when my employer filed for H1-B and I-140)

Civic questions were very simple:

1) tax date

2) who is Independence Day celebrated

3) supreme law of land

4) Who wrote federalist papers

5) name governor of your state

6) don’t remember

Oath ceremony same day.

good luck to everyone waiting for the big day!

I went to my oath ceremony today. It went for one hour and a half after all the attendees checked in. There were 118 applicants from 40 different countries. I was the only one from my country of origin. It was very beautiful. Some people stood up and said some words on the microphone. I'm quite shy, so I chose not to do that. I'm more of a writer than a speaker, so I wrote about the whole immigration from journey from day one through today on my blog. I used my chance to register to vote right after the ceremony. I'll apply later today for my US passport.

This forum has been very helpful for the past four years. I'm very grateful to have found my place here in America. I want to thank all of you for sharing your advise and experiences. Good luck to the ones that are not done yet!

My Wait time shows 5 months and estimated case completion says June 2020. But it’ll show we are taking longer than expected when it reaches the estimated time In June 2020 apparently. I have heard from other ND filers that the average wait time for interview for ND is 12-15 months. I waited for 8 months and looks like I’m only half way there. Hope it moves faster by some miracle. I am getting tired of traveling back and forth from US to Canada. Long distance after getting married is not cool.

UPDATE

Mother-in-law arrived for her Oath Ceremony yesterday in Fairfax when she went to hand in her Green Card they informed her that her ceremony had been desheduled?
After traveling 2 hours herself & family flying in to attend they gave her back her green card.

They gave her a copy of the de scheduling letter sent on 16th?

Informed her that she had to have her Oath Ceremony at a different location in February & that someone should have called her??
When she got home the letter was in the mailbox just delivered. No email or phone call notification?
While waiting they enquirered what is happening about Father-in-Laws as he interviewed the same day but by a trainee, the short answer was nothing it is in a pile awaiting checking!
