We're also Orlando office (filed at end of June so a few months behind you).  I've had the hardest time finding anyone else on here who's got Orlando as the local office!

We have filed at Orlando office as well. My estimated completion time is Feb 2020 but I got a message recently saying that my case is being delayed. So still waiting.

Had my interview in Orlando on December 3rd. It took about 30min. First the officer asked me the questions from the test and then moved to the application. I had couple of changes but there was no problem and I was approved right away. I changed my work, I traveled outside US for two weeks and I got divorced since I applied in April. The officer was super nice. She told me I will be scheduled for the oath on December 5th but there was a problem with the system and they didn’t give me the papers for the oath.

After waiting outside for couple of hours a supervisor came to talk to me and told me that he will give me a call when they fix the issue.

I didn’t have my ceremony on the 5th as I was told. On the 6th the supervisor called me at 10 am and told me to be at the office for the oath ceremony at 12:30. Still don’t know what went wrong, but the most important thing is that I am now a citizen.

Thank you all for your help!

Hello All,

I have a question regarding N400, hopefully I can find an answer here. I will file N400 soon, my green card was marriage based, but I have divorced.

I will apply N400 based on the 5 years rule. However I have not been employed for a while, will that be a issue? will USCIS deny my case because I have no income?

Thank you.

Did you report your income every year (Married filing jointly, Married filing separately, Single) even during period of time while not employed?

Oh, what a day, what a lovely day!

Yes I file taxes every year. Currently not employed but I have not file the taxes for 2019 yet.

I don't think you are going to have a problem with putting unemployed on your application. If you don't want to put unemployed you can put self-employed and start driving for uber or lyft. Just an idea.. BTW I also had some periods of unemployment, they didn't ask about that.

Hello All,

April 02 Houston filer here.

I had my combo interview December 7th and was recommended for approval.   My N-400 status updated online noting that I attended the interview; however, after 3 days still no movement on the N-400 or  I-751.

The officer noted that my oath would be January 15th; however, i am just wondering why the update is taking so long.

Oh, man! That's just a pain in the butt!  And they never give any hint about why. You just enter the black hole and sit waiting in the dark.

Hi everyone! Work has been crazy so I didn't have a chance to write about my oath ceremony experience until now!

My oath ceremony was on December 2 at 9am at the Philadelphia Field Office. I arrived around 8:40 but they didn't let us in the ceremony room until 9am anyway. There were 67 people being naturalized from 38 different countries! I thought it was cool that they announced everyone's country. They first let the candidates in the room, and once everyone was situated, they let the friends and family in to take a seat. There were plenty of seats for friends and family. An IO explained how the ceremony will go, and started with the "processing", during which we all lined up and verified one by one that the information on our naturalization certificate was accurate. This part was kinda boring because it took a very long time since there are 67 people, and we weren't able to go wait with the friends & family, and the 2 people sitting on either side of me weren't really interested in chatting either 😊

Once the processing was done, we moved onto the oath. I was actually more excited and emotional than I thought I would be 😊 After the oath, we watched a message from the President, and an inspirational video called America, the Beautiful. Then they proceeded to give us our naturalization certificates by announcing our names and inviting us to the "stage" area. Even though I can't remember the exact order, we also did the Pledge of Allegiance and the the national anthem as well during the ceremony. After the ceremony was over, they let us stay in the room to take pictures, and there were also people around helping to register to vote.

Another thing I found funny - the dress code. There was a big range of dress choices, from sweatpants and a tshirt to a nightgown and a fur jacket 😂 I highly recommend dressing up as business casual or business formal, but yes, there are all kinds of people there.

Overall, the oath ceremony was a good experience! It still feels kinda surreal that I am a US Citizen now!!! I am so so happy that it is done 😍 I applied for my passport the next day, and hoping that it will arrive soon!

Wishing everyone best of luck with their journey, and I am thankful that I found this forum that helped me along the way! I definitely learned a lot about the immigration process thanks to all of you!

Many congratulations and thanks for the details of oath ceremony. I was just wondering if we could take friends along with us to the oath. Got the answer now :)
