First Thank you to all who took their time to post their experiences and questions as it helps everyone

Now my case: My Spouse and myself had interview today at 10 and mine was 11:20

Both Interviews lasted 20-25 mins and they basically go through whole application and questions. Asked 6 questions, got all right. Just study the 100 and you should be good

Mine was a N400 after 5 years, Fairfax VA USCIS office with 90 day early filing

mine is also a name change so “placed in line for oath”, status changed to this immediately.

Spouse’s went into quality review so no approval yet.... maybe few more days

I have extensive travel, 40 + countries, none over 6 months, all short travel. Also clear background and no criminal history

Best of Luck to all

My combo interview was 9/23.

The officer said it should be within or less than 2 months for a result.

By end of this week will be exactly 2 months and I still have not heard anything.

The whole process is driving me and my husband crazy now... =.=

Hi and welcome to the group! I have heard some places will do same-day Oaths but it is pretty rare, generally. My office (Portland, OR) does do them, but in almost all instances people who got a same-day oath had an interview time before 11 am. Mine is going to be at 12.40pm so I don't think I will be one of the lucky ones. Unfortunately, I don't have an easy answer for you, because this is going to be different at all local offices:-/ Congratulations on getting your date and best of luck next Thursday!

Thank you!

I looked up some past timelines in VJ for Philadelphia, and it looks like all of them were on a Monday or a Friday, so those are probably the only days they do oath ceremonies :) My interview is late afternoon, so I will assume it is almost impossible for same day oath... although it would've been amazing to be done done on the same day!

Thanks again, and good luck to you too!

My Interview was yesterday, passed the exam without problems.

Then I got a printed notice that I passed the exam but that "A decision cannot yet be made about your application".

I just feel cold dead. At least I don't have to study anymore......

Its common. No worries, sometimes it will be approved within a week.

Good luck.

The immigration process caused me PTSD.

Congratulations on finishing your interview and passing the exam!! That is a big accomplishment! I am sorry you didn't get immediate approval, and I understand how awful it must feel. I have read many accounts of that happening though, and most often it is just because the interviewing officer is new and their work has to be checked by a senior officer before approval can be given. I hope you hear back from them soon! You made it past another step in the journey 😄

Ceremony complete!!

What a interesting experience! Lot's of waiting however. The ceremony didn't start until nearly two hours after the time on the notice. I overheard them talk about how backed up they were getting everyone in. Over 700 people!

Feels very strange to be done with all of this... all I need to do now is update my social and get my passport sorted.

Thanks everyone for the support and good luck with your journeys!

100% agree with the delay getting people in! Lol line was soo long!

758 people for so many countries.

4 people from this forum! Yeahhhh

Had a friend who got her first greencard at the same day as mine and we had our ceremony at the same day.

I'm so happy to be done with my immigration papers. Now is time to file for my mom!

Good luck to all you guys!!

Just passed my interview today! I am still awaiting my oath ceremony date though! I thought the oath ceremony was optional, but it sounds like it is a must and is required to complete the process.
The officer interviewing me started with the questions and was very friendly, he asked if I had studied the "thousand questions" and said we'll be here for about 2 hours with all the questions - funny guy! I got all the questions correct, and he stopped at 6. My reading portion was "Who was Abraham Lincoln" and writing was the answer. I wrote on the ipad a few words per line as he repeated them to me.
Lots of other basic questions, what is your full name, your birth date, your country of citizenship, if I am a citizen of any other countries, how long and where do I work, was I previously married (I was) and when was that, when did I re-marry, what is her name? Then on to answering the questions I had answered on the application. I was unexpectedly asked if I wanted to change my name (hey you don't hear this much as a guy) - how fun would it have been if I changed my name ha... would have surprised my wife!
And now I wait for the oath ceremony date!
