Today is a working holiday for all N400 applicants across the nation. May 16 of each year will be called "Decreased Estimated Processing Time Day."

🤣😂

We await USCIS' press release saying it was a glitch; hope not. 😂

Someone might have eaten the only lunch🌮🥪🥤 kept in the refrigerator by the Chief IT Technician from USCIS headquarters, and his only revenge was to set the "Estimated processing time" on Autopilot and allow everyone to cruise down the wait time.

😂😂🤣😂🤣😂

I just can't wait to see this person's next reaction. 😂😂

I logged into my account to see my wait time (hoping it was also decreased) and its not even there 😞

Don't be sad, wait for tomorrow and see. I'm not too hyped up by the decreased time, but we just have to cheer ourselves up from this stressful and exhausting final journey. The wait is too looooooong.

Mine got worse - from February 2020 to April 2020. The NYC Manhattan field office has 30,000 cases pending a decision.

I'm so over this process 😞

So far my rollercoaster has been:

* initial estimate after applying: March 2020

* straight after doing biometrics: January 2020

* after review of biometrics: February 2020

* today's random update: April 2020

But with NYC having 30,000 cases pending a decision, and given they process/finalize about 7,500/month, 12 months seems like the standard wait for an interview in this area. It's so depressing.

I don't want to every post I make to be one in which I express my distress, but it really is difficult to deal with the fact that time between application and interview is so drastically different from one field office to the next. I don't know how/why this is deemed acceptable from an organizational point of view. There really shouldn't be extreme differences from one field office to the next and given there are, one has to ask, why? It can't all be explained away by the amount of applications. That is easily addressed by allocating more resources to those areas where the are many cases still pending a decision. It's common sense.

Just putting this out there for the universe, no response required...for those offices with long wait times, ie New Orleans for me, why wouldn't the theses offices consider transfering cases to the applicants secondary office....ie Jackson, MS for me,  where the wait is much shorter.  Yes it is a further distance for me to go for my interview, but given half a chance I would do it in a heartbeat.

Nvm, just checked again & my wait time decreased from May 2020 (12 months) to Dec 2019 (7 months). Too bad I sent a message inquiring as to why my estimated wait time wasn't available.

Lack of political will and pressure to do so. Ultimately it's a government department and at the mercy of the administration that oversees it. Significant money has been pulled from USCIS to fund enforcement and deportation activities, hence leaving fewer resources to allocate to things like the processing of citizenship applications. Reducing wait times for future citizens is not a priority and in fact, one could argue that there has been a conscious effort to slow things down .
