Hi everyone.

I filed online on 4/3 and have completed my biometric appointment on 4/23. My local office is Columbus, OH. I've added myself to the spreadsheet.

I do have a question. My 10 year green card is about to expire in October this year. On the USCIS site, it said my estimated completion time is March 2020.  I know of 2 people that completed their naturalization process within 4 months last year in the same local office, and the timeline in VJ also show about 3-5 months - but of course this is just a small sample. I don't have plan for out of country travel this year. So should I renew the green card, or just wait out the N400 process?

If you apply for citizenship more than 6 months before your green card expires, you probably will not have to renew your green card. If you apply for citizenship when your green card is going to expire in less than six months, you may need to apply to renew your green card while you are waiting to be approved for citizenship.

Barely, but it's more than 6 months - it is 6 months + 2 weeks. I was dragging my feet with completing the application before I realized that my GC is about to expire. I think for now I'm just going to wait out the N400 process.

Hello! My NBC is Overland Park, KS.

never heard about it before. Anyone else with the sam NBC?

that seems to be where the notice letters come from (don't quote me though), but the office that will process your case should be your field (local) office.

Even if you don’t submit additional evidence onto the website, you can still choose to take it with you to your interview.

Added myself to the spreadsheet. Submitted N400 April 28 online (based on marriage - 3 yr. residency) with pending ROC as of May 2018.

At first my N400 estimated completion was October 2020 but this morning it changed to September 2020. No biometrics letter yet.Hoping for a smooth case.

Good Morning all,

Quick question. Looking at my case online it says estimated case competition time December (7 months), but then when I look below to case status, it says we received your application etc.. and underneath it says estimated wait time 2 months...

What is the different between these two dates? Early morning so might be missing some obvious.

Thank you

The 2 months is probably the window they set themselves for scheduling your biometrics, and the 7 months is your overall time to complete the whole case - but like brien0512 said, the times they post on there rarely correspond to your actual wait time, so yesh ignore them:-D

4/23/2019 (Day 00): N-400 filed Online (Portland, OR), Receipt Notice

4/27/2019 (Day 04): Biometrics scheduled

4/29/2019 (Day 06): Receipt notice available online and received in mail, Biometrics notice available online

5/06/2019 (Day 13): Biometrics letter received in mail

5/15/2019 (Day 22): Biometrics appointment

5/16/2019 (Day 23): Reviewed biometrics

8/30/2019 (Day 129): Estimated wait time count down expired, "we are taking longer than expected to process your case"

10/17/2019 (Day 177): Egov says "Interview was scheduled", 2 hours later Myuscis says the same - no date yet

10/18/2019 (Day 178): Interview document uploaded to Myuscis

11/25/2019 (Day 216): Interview in Portland, Oregon, "A decision cannot be made", 5 hours later Egov says "placed in line for Oath"

11/26/2019 (Day 217): Myuscis says "We approved your application"

01/16/2020  (Day 268): Casetracker says "Oath ceremony notice was mailed" - 52 days since interview - no date yet

01/17/2020 (Day 269): Myuscis says "We scheduled your naturalization ceremony"

01/18/2020 (Day 270): Oath Ceremony document uploaded to Myuscis

02/06/2020 (Day 289): Oath Ceremony in Portland, Oregon

Thank you

The estimated wait time is for the next step, so biometrics are estimated to be in two months.

The completion time is for the full process.
