Hi guys, I had my n400 interview today with i751 still pending. I didn’t go with my spouse, they are traveling right now and advised me to go ahead with the interview.

I waited 3.5 hours for my interview in Down town Los Angeles field office. I was one of the few people who wasn’t seen earlier by an officer for an interview and most folks waited not more than 1.5 hr.

there was so much confusion and they kept moving us from waiting room after another, finally I talked to somebody and they said an officer will be with me shortly.

the officer A took me into another officer’s B office and apparently officer B was  training  officer A.

he asked me to take an oath, then he asked me 5 civics questions, read a line in English and write a line. He asked me how my day was and I made a comment of waiting 3.5 hours for the interview. The as$h0l3 didn’t even apologize or ask details. I don’t think he was expecting me to comment on how most people were seen in smaller time frame but I had to sit there without having lunch or toilet break for them to call me.

Then he went through the tedious list of yes and no questions that you answer in your n-400 application.

at the end they said he could not approve my n-400 but gave me some bullshit about if you send in these documents we can ask the officers looking at your conditions of removal to approve your application without an interview.

NO DECISION MADE ON N-400 was marked on my sheet, yes I passed the civics and English test.

so I will send the REquest for documentation when they generate the request in the mail and send it to me but if I still get called with spouse for the conditions of removal interview - I won’t be surprised. May need to request interview date to be as close to 8am and have the officer see me early rather than waste my time. Such a bad experience - I wish they were not this unprofessional and incompetent!!

in feb 2020, they sent me Request for evidence, I replied back with all the documents towards end of feb and they approved my citizenship application along with i751 today. I now have to wait for letter to attend naturalization ceremony. Finally this journey is coming on an end!

Update the journey ended for My in-laws became Citizens last week in Fairfax Office, it was a very brief ceremony of 30 people wearing masks. Please update.

They where told they are doing 13 ceremonies a day at that office to clear the backlog it was about 15 minutes in total.

Nobody allowed in except those becoming Citizens, so things are moving.
The other thing that was mentioned is that USCIS only have funding until August to process after that the officers may have to look for other jobs? I assume the government will fund after August & that this is correct?

Thank you to everyone on VJ for all the support for our family journey started 11years ago!

My understanding is that USCIS supports itself mainly through the fees applicants pay. So with less applications, and further restrictions by the administrations, USCIS is having to furlough a bunch of people. This administration could not care less,  actually they might be ok with crippling the entire system. So I am not sure how things are going to work out.
