Hi guys, I had my n400 interview today with i751 still pending. I didn’t go with my spouse, they are traveling right now and advised me to go ahead with the interview.

I waited 3.5 hours for my interview in Down town Los Angeles field office. I was one of the few people who wasn’t seen earlier by an officer for an interview and most folks waited not more than 1.5 hr.

there was so much confusion and they kept moving us from waiting room after another, finally I talked to somebody and they said an officer will be with me shortly.

the officer A took me into another officer’s B office and apparently officer B was  training  officer A.

he asked me to take an oath, then he asked me 5 civics questions, read a line in English and write a line. He asked me how my day was and I made a comment of waiting 3.5 hours for the interview. The as$h0l3 didn’t even apologize or ask details. I don’t think he was expecting me to comment on how most people were seen in smaller time frame but I had to sit there without having lunch or toilet break for them to call me.

Then he went through the tedious list of yes and no questions that you answer in your n-400 application.

at the end they said he could not approve my n-400 but gave me some bullshit about if you send in these documents we can ask the officers looking at your conditions of removal to approve your application without an interview.

NO DECISION MADE ON N-400 was marked on my sheet, yes I passed the civics and English test.

so I will send the REquest for documentation when they generate the request in the mail and send it to me but if I still get called with spouse for the conditions of removal interview - I won’t be surprised. May need to request interview date to be as close to 8am and have the officer see me early rather than waste my time. Such a bad experience - I wish they were not this unprofessional and incompetent!!

Me neither. 😞

I applied in April 2019. Online case completion shows June 2020 but I highly doubt if I’ll get interview notice prior to that. One of the other guy from ND applied in August 2018 with no interview notice yet. Applying from ND sucks!

I share your pain. In another forum I saw someone who applied in November 2019 who is now already a citizen. The unfairness in regards to wait times is so demoralizing, something I think only those who go through it can truly understand.

CITIZENSHIP TIMELINE

4/2019: Submitted N400

5/2019: Biometrics (3 weeks)

2/2020: Interview (10 months)

3/2020: Oath & naturalization (11 months)

6/2020: Passport received (3 months)

Sorry about your experience  but your N400 cannot be approved until your removal of condition is.Hopefully they will adjudicate both soon.

Thank you for your kind wishes. No one should have an unpleasant interview experience! Most of us invest significant time and energy not just filling the paperwork but also giving up a vacation day for their interview trip. The officers had no semblance of empathy.

@N400NYC and @Hidigal I am here waiting with you both.  I just read of someone who applied in June in Phoenix who got notified yesterday of their interview.  Another person applied the day before me and is already a citizen.  My completion date has not changed since biometrics, still showing June 2020.  The wait continues.......

For sure. I agree with you.
My concern is that my husband lives in Canada and I’m splitting time between US and Canada. The longer I wait the more travel history I add up and it’s making me nervous about my interview. It looks like it’s going to take 1 more year for me to get my interview and Oath. One of the guys from Cleveland applied in November 2019 and became a citizen. So unfair. I wish there was some option for people who waited for 6 months or more for expedited or premium processing. 😞

@LisaPHX79 when did you apply and from where? I have been waiting for the last 9 months. Would have had a baby within this time if my husband and I were not living apart 😂

I don’t know why there isn’t an expedited option if people are willing to pay a fee! It would help raise funds!!!

The travel history is okay as long as you are maintaining US residence - job, accommodation, taxes etc - and the trips aren’t longer than 6 months (which obviously they aren’t). I’ve been visiting my fiancé overseas as well since applying but never for longer than a few weeks at a time. Thankfully I have a job/employer  which is very flexible.

And shock horror today I received notice my interview has been scheduled - date is pending arrival of letter.

Woohoooo! Congratulations! Excited for you. Hope your process goes smooth.

Ya I would totally pay for premium processing if it were there. For status I still have my US job, apartment, car, bank accounts etc. I work remotely so thankfully I’ve been managing fine.

You should be fine then - keep visiting him to help you stay sane while you are waiting. Being separated from a fiance/spouse/partner + waiting for a citizenship interview is a stressful combination.
