We're bound to leave next week and still I havent got all my things together. So Im planning to just get a box and send it in the US, my problem is I dont know what courier service to pick and like how much do they charge.

The stuff I wanted to bring with me to the US wouldn't fit the 2 pieces of luggages that we are allowed to bring with us so I decided to send the excess via air courier. I compared the rates of all available air couriers in the Philippines. DHL came out with the cheapest rates. I left my stuff with them the same day I left the Philippines. And it arrived in NC 24 hours after I got there :-).

Btw, I asked the local post office about ocean shipping. It comes out more expensive than air shipping and they said it takes about 3 months for the packages to reach their destination. Their air shipping service is a bit more expensive than DHL, too.

Hi Gracy,

I know this thread was months ago. But am in the same situation as you were before you left. So what forwarded did you end up getting? Was it satisfactory? I just inquired at Fedex's sister company for ocean forwarder today and for my stuffs (mostly for our wedding day) i will be charged minimum of $350 for 3-4 balikbayan-size boxes.

Hi guys! I ended up with not sending any package over here, I lessened my baggage, took all the not so important stuffs and holla Im done, got 4 big luggages and 2 carry ons.

I'm just curious cause I thought only 2 baggage are allowed per person?

Yup that's right, 2 baggage and 1 carry on for each person, I travelled with my son thats why I had 4.
