I-864 tax documentation question

Good afternoon VJ!

 

I'm currently filling out the I-864 to adjust status of my wife, and have a quick question-

 

Part 6, question 24a/b/c

I'm currently making well over the minimum income level, so I don't feel it necessary to submit three years of taxes, just the most recent year which is required, and entered the info into box 24a. If I am not submitting the second and third most recent years tax returns, am I still required to enter my income for those years in 24b and 24c? I made plenty of money, but was overseas, and was able to claim the foreign earned income exclusion (which due to that shows I made like 3k in 2016 instead of 103k). Just trying to make sure I give them what they need without confusing anything.

Yes, the income for all 3 years is required. The return for only the most recent year is required.

Ah, in that case I might as well include the tax returns so they don't think I only made 3k for a few years......Thanks!

Do you think I should add a note on the additional page mentioning that 2016 and 2017 income looks low because I was able to claim the foreign earned income exemption?  I've included the paperwork with the tax returns I'm sending them, but would that note help them figure it out?

I don't think it's necessary.
