I am going to be FedEx'ing off my forms on Tuesday. A month after that, my wife and I are closing on a house, and moving. Some of you may recall, (or may not), the last time I moved (well, the time before the last time) my greencard was approved, but it was during the period it takes them to change your address. Even though I changed my address as soon as I moved, my green card was sent to the wrong address, as it takes time to update the address.

We are going to be taking a whole month to move, as we have both places. I think I will change my address with USCIS the day we close, but not have my mail forwarded to new place untill several weeks after that. I just don't want to miss any important paperwork.

Can you open a PO box at the new location? If yes I would do that and use the PO box for this part of the process. That way you can be sure no mail will be lost.

Not sure about this - I seem to remember that USCIS will not mail anything to a P.O. Box, that it must be a physical address.

Can anyone confirm this or know if this is the case?

Clloyd, maybe send it with the new address on the forms? If it got there before you moved, would there be someone there who could keep it for you, maybe?

You can do it online now. We moved while the I-751 is pending and changed the address online. (You can also file the AR-11 online, but not the I-865.) It went fine, we got a confirmation of the address change and then the 10-year card was sent to the new house.

In fact, the only thing they screwed up was the I-865, which I'd sent by mail.

This is all great advice, as hubby and I will also be moving while the I-751 is in process. However, my husband and I have always stated on all our immigration forms that we consider my mother's house our permanent residence and all correspondence should go to there as my husband and I have been moving a lot since he's come over to the US, and our Driver's Licenses will have that address until we find a place to settle down in for more than a year.

I don't know if you have that option to have it go somewhere else, to have ALL correspondence go there until you are fully settled in the move. It's probably not a helpful suggestion but I thought I'd try nonetheless :)

We've used a PO Box address for the I129f part of the process and it worked out fine. However that was a long time ago (2-3 years), things might have changed....

We had some major issues with mail and when we went for an infopass appointment they reccomended getting a PO BOX to ensure that our mail would be delivered.

I sent my application off today, should reach Linclon tomorrow morning. I just worried about missing all those notices and biometric appointments. I guess I can call every week during the moving process. While I was looking at all of my paperwork yesterday, I think my gren card was approved one or two days after I changed my address. I waited on the long side of the 10 days, as I was not expecting it to be approved right then.

I hear you can get your passport stamped. Too bad mine is sittng in a processing center near Ottawa, and has been for two months. I hope they get that sent to me before I moved. They have not process the payment last I checked either. I suppose I can call my parents MP if I need help. "Hello Stockwell....."
