Hoping someone might have so tips about getting your police certificate from Canada.

My mother is a Mexican national living in Edmonton, Alberta. We are attempting to get her U.S. green card so she can come live with me in the states. Our interview location is in Montreal.

A police certificate from Canada has been requested by NVC. It was kicked back last week because we got the wrong one. My mom tried to request the police certificate under the Privacy act as stated on the travel.state.gov website. She went to the local RCMP  they told her (scolded) that she wasn't allowed to do that and then she said that she needed it for immigration to the U.S. Obviously, by doing this they give her the wrong police certificate.  Did anyone else have trouble or do you have any advice on obtaining a police certificate under the Privacy Act?

Hi there,

I simply googled up RCMP police check services and found one instantly.

He he took my fingerprints, I signed the application, paid him about $20 and had the correct check within the week.

If she’s Mexican, won’t she need one from there also?  The family based immigration requires a police check from every country where the applicant lived.

Hi there!

Yea we got her Mexican police certificate and didn't have an issue. I was surprised the Canadian one got kicked back. It also cost us about 200 dollars...so there is definitely something wrong. Did yours look anything like the one in this image? Thank you so much for your help by the way!

She should request the PRIVACY ACT. They will take her finger prints and picture but it wont appear on the report. The one I got is just an ordinary paper that says no record. 200? Wow that’s expensive! I only paid like 65 or something. Seems the place where she went doesn’t know about this. Try to call the authorized finger printing agency before going.

There is the example of the Privacy Act, which is what the NVC wants.

The pertinent line is "No personal information about you what found in the databank".

Thank you so much for keeping us posted on every step. I wish picking up is an option. Passport is safer that way. I’ve read some passports lost by Canada post.

Have you heard anything yet on your case?  I know it's a holiday Monday in Canada, but has there been any movement for you at all?

Nothing. Those who submitted Saturday and sunday got CC today. In just a day! It’s not fair that they put resubmission in a different line. I know it is their first time to submit but we resubmitted before them. I dont think it is fair at all. It is not first come first serve 😓

I also submitted on April 24th first then heres what happens when I uploaded my marriage certificate in native Language and in English language separately here's the funny part they accepted under my spouse document but under mine they add a comment to put them together but file was showing accepted so I call nvc and rep told me to add both together under additional documents that's what I uploaded on 24th of April but when I logged in may 2nd I notice it was showing invalid file what they did the was the file was showing accepted and had a comment beside it to upload together now was saying invalid file and document was showing incomplete so I call nvc again they said upload the same file otherwise they wont review the file since its showing incomplete so I upload the same marriage n translation together on may 2nd last week I called again nvc and now they are saying they only review according to last uploaded file nvc waste my whole month for nothing and for somthing they accepted under my wife document that's like no brainer for nvc hopefully will get reply this week
