Waiting time for Montreal Canada Interview

The reason for the insufficiency in my income is that I am a graduate student in Canada and I don't have a real income. Consulting our lawyer, we provided assets for the lack of US-earned income. Even though the assets are 5 times more than the minimum income requirements, we still received the note for my income. Now, I have prepared all the documents for a joint sponsor but I am a bit confused about what I should expect next. Is the NVC waiting for the joint sponsor to have a new update? Am I going to receive an email about any new updates or do I need to follow the message box on the NVC website?

I think after you upload your documents for the joint sponsor, and NVC reviews these you should see "accepted" by those documents - and if they feel your case is complete you will receive an email saying you are "documentary qualified." For us, each time we uploaded something new it was taking about 2 weeks for NVC to review.

Thank you so much for your insights! I think the same and I hope they will be as fast the previous time when they got back to me in a day!

Exactly the same here. Our lawyer only uploaded the documents/information I provided him which was much faster and easier if I did it myself! I have to submit a joint sponsor as we received a note that my income is not enough. I was ready to submit everything last Wednesday but I have to wait for the lawyer's signature till tomorrow. Do you happen to have an issue with the financial requirements for the sponsor? We received a note saying: "the petitioner does not meet the minimum income requirement to sponsor the intending immigrant for this case. The consular officer will make a decision regarding this requirement at the time of the interview. For more information, please visit https://www.uscis.gov/i-864p. To avoid delays, an additional Affidavit of Support Form I-864 for a joint sponsor may be submitted."

Does this mean our case is waiting for the submission of a joint sponsor?

I am not sure. You might need a joint sponsor.

my husband made more than required but when we submitted April 1, he is only a month inhis new job which means 2recent paystubs. Feb he wasnt working. So we asked my aunt as our Js To be safe.

First rfe, multiple files. Lawyer uploaded tax return and W2 as one.

Second rfe they asked for the W2 of our JS husband coz they file jointly. (Months before we submitted first time, i asked attorney about this but she told me we dont need any from the husband) so there few more days and almost a month now no update.

Good to know that we also need I-864a form. Do I need to include the joint sponsor's husband W-2 forms as well?

Don't worry. I think you should be hearing soon and hopefully, you won't have a long wait for your interview.

If your joint sponsor filed jointly, whatever W2 that appears in transcript you submit shld also be submitted.

example, only my aunt is our JS but because in her tax return/transcript the name of her husband also appears so they want to see the husband’s w2 as well.

I hope when i hear something from them it’s alreay a CC. Im worried they will ask for 2018 financial docs. They never asked me that but now it’s past the tax filing deadline. So they might ask again 🙏🏽

Yes, they filed jointly. Thank God I read this forum to learn about that because I wanted to only include my joint sponsor's documents!

Typically they are fast. I don't know why you haven't heard from them in a month. For me, the first time, they got back to me in 2 weeks and the second time, I heard from them in 1 ~ 2 days. Anyways, hopefully, you get the CC notification soon. Keep us posted.

I was late to find VJ. Lawyer already messed up before I became a member here. It’s really Crazy. So

April 1- first submission

April 17- all excepted except one rfe saying multiple file

april 18- resubmitted tax separated W2

May 7- they ask for JS spouse W2 (everything appears ACCEPTED just that note saying submit all W2)

May 8- uploaded the JS husband W2

May 15- uploaded document untouched and the ACCEPTED Js W2 since April suddenly changed to rejected (the rest still shows accepted and May 8 doc untouched)

May 18- uploaded same W2 they rejected

May 31- called nvc and was told again to wait till May 8 which is 1month since the submission of additional W2

idk why May 15 all of a sudden theh rejected my aunt’s W2 whh they didnt reject it May 7 so we cld have uploaded everything May 8.

and now they are saying we start the count of 3 wks from May 18. But ive seen resubmitted documents of others May 28 and got Cc nxt day. Not fair 😌

Weird! I did not know that an accepted document can change to rejected!!! Now that makes me worried ...!!! I really don't know how this process works! Maybe the officers are assigned a certain number of cases and some officers are fast and some are slow!??! it just does not make sense why some hear in a day and some have to wait weeks to hear back!

Sorry I wrote wrong month and wrong spelling lol! I meant to wait June 8 and accepted not excepted 🤡

And yes they can reject docs that has been accepted months ago specially with the maintenace almost every week. There’s something wrong with their system. And yes again. Some lucky. I am not. I was lucky with USCIS stage. Thought NVC stage will be faster and easier.

I had a same issue about marriage certificate file was showing accepted but beside that there was a comment about attached English and native languages marriage certifcate together and then I called nvc and rep told me to upload under additional documents because marriage certificate was showing accepted and cant upload new combined certificates file so I uploaded and after a week when I login to check without even sending me any email the orignal location of marriage certificate the one was accepted changed to rejected and then I called nvc again and they told me to upload same file under marriage certificate to change the status of invalid case to submitted case file but I literally lose 6 weeks together cuz they only review documents according to last uploaded file date which is no brainer  but file is completed now waiting for interview now

Yes, I got what you meant. I had one question. Do I really need to fill I-864a since my sponsor's income is sufficient (well beyond the poverty line) and we don't need my sponsor's husband income/assets to support our case?

Sorry but idk. I think post a topic on the CR1-1R1 forum and lots of people who knows more about this can answer you. It is better to ask them so you wont be delayed.
