I don't know if anyone here is from Brazil but I will leave this message in case it helps someone...

The interview in Rio pick up passport option:

Rio gives you the option of mailing your passport/visa back to you after the interview, or pick it up when it is ready. The mailing option takes about 14 days and I have seen that sometimes it takes more. So we signed up to go pick it up when ready... IT TOOK 2 DAYS for the passport to be ready for pick up!!! This is a huge help since we are in a time crunch!

Hope this helps someone!

If the CFO SIminar is done early do I have to go back? Was reading somewhere and they stated that after the visa was issued you have to go back for a stamp?

Yes you do have to go back after you get your visa and they will put a stamp in the passport. My fiancee did it just last week

We are near the end! My fiance had his medical exam in Stockholm last week (he is Swedish) and his interview is this week! However, when he checked in on the medical exam paperwork to confirm it would arrive before the interview, he was told that they needed to send in lab work to confirm he had two vaccines (antibody testing) - for both tetanus and diphtheria. It will take 10-15 days for this test to come back. Furthermore, they told him if he needs both, it will take several rounds for these vaccines to be complete - which is months. Has anyone dealt with this? thanks in advance!!

Has anyone heard of paying “travel tax” to fly out of MNL?? This is something I have never heard of.

@Greenbaum

Yes there are taxes that need to be paid. I think Hank has listed the ones that you guys will have to pay. I don't stay up on that "stuff" like Hank does.

There have been many that have dealt with that. Unfortunately it will be a delay but I wouldn't worry about this have an affect on the interview. Just go ahead and complete the interview and they will issue a 221(g) informing you that they can't approve and complete your visa till they have the medical. No big thing. Just a little more time is needed.

Ok. I found out. For others... Your fiancée will have to pay this tax. It is 1620=$35 so make sure your fiancée has this if it is in the Philippines. It is required before checking in at the airport. This is for any Filipino or any non-citizen that has been there for over a year anytime you fly

Why give her the money for the TT, pay online and she doesn't have to worry about it. Online payment option:  https://traveltax.tieza.gov.ph/

Thanks! I had already sent her the money and the link to pay online. What a weird tax, but what about all of our taxes in the US! Lord Have Mercy! Insane how much and how many taxes there are here. On a positive note, I will be married soon and taxes will be a bit less. 😂
