Hello folks, I went to the dmv to renew my DL with the letter of “EAD 180 days extension” today in Philadelphia. Unfortunately, the office refused to renew my DL after I showed i797C, SSN and a letter about “EAD 180 days extension” up to her. I told her that I don’t receive the new EAD card yet, but according to the Immigration law, there is automatic 180 days extension with my EAD card. But she said the DMVs are only followed federal laws. So she cannot give me the new DL. What should I do next? Can you guys give me some opinions? Thanks a lot!

just go to another location. I am in my third Prima facia and renew only with that. pray and give them your papers confidently. and request to speak with a supervisor politely. don't forget you are a victim and needs to be treated for benefits like this. if they don't renew it, keep changing the locations. God be with you my sister!

Update my experience of renew DL:

I went to another DMV(Named Penndot in PA)

on this morning in Philadelphia. I talked to the clerk first, but still not work. Then I told her that i want to speak to supervisor. After 20 minutes, the supervisor came to me and asked me to provide i485 and i765. After he reviewed them, he issued me another 6 months.

Hello, hope we're all doing well by God's grace and praying for updates and approvals.

I am in a tight spot which I wish I could get by. My problem is that I'm still waiting for my i360 approval or updates since I applied Feb 2017. I currently have a combo card which I can use to work and travel outside the US. My fear and worry is that I have just been offered a job with the United Nations based on my profession with my initial training of 2 months in Ukraine before further being sent out on my UN mission area which usually lasts about 4 months per each period (in total 6 months).

My worry is that will this affect my immigration status in any way for being away for such a long period of time.

My current combo card will expire in August but I have sent out my renewal months ago which I have received my 180 days extension along with advanced parole receipt notices.

I will really appreciate any advise of what best to do.

God bless 🙏 everyone.

At a glance, even though I am not an attorney or the smartest person here..I would first secure my immigration status before venturing on such endeavors requiring staying out of the U.S. for long periods! Don't think it's the wise thing to do..hopefully @sandranj or anyone else who knows more can input! That said..I really hope your case gets approved real quick!

Be aware of this the automatic 180 days extension is only for your EAD NOT the Advanced Parole... You can continue working for 6 more months but cannot travel until you get the Combo card on hand.  6 months is a long time, but Advance Parole is valid for a year, it may affect you or it may not, but if you do decided to go, bring along all your proof that you left with a justified reason such as work, also how about during does 6 months USCIS request RFE on behalf of your pending I360 and you don't respond, your case will be denied. think about all the risk.

Did you get a plastic card DL issued on the spot?
When you say review:- Did the supervisor make a copy of the 180 days extension receipt notice?
