I understand you fell broken..but our words are quite powerful! Proclaim positivity! Let it reflect your name also and utterances! By all means go ahead and file as long as you have all the supporting documents! Remember that infidelity is not a qualification for vawa but abuse! Also its not clear if you're already a permanent resident with the 2yr green card trying to lift the conditions....as you mentioned your spouse refused to attend the 10yr GC interview with you..as there are other categories you are eligible for if that is the case..from my understanding on this forum! Please throw more light if you may. And Goodluck with the whole process dear!

I never received the 2 years conditional GC and as such, have had to renew EAD yearly. The 10 year GC IMO is what the interview was for as we have been married for more than 2 years. Am I assuming to much or getting something wrong?

Oh I see where u coming from. I think you can file vawa so long as you have the supporting documents like I mentioned before. Most folks file on their own..but if u feel you need a lawyer then by all means get one! Goodluck..a d we're always here if you need guidance along the way.

You said 10 years green card interview ..has she gone with one interview with you before?? Have you gotten 2 years green card through her before...

Yes, we both attended the initial interview with little avail. USCIS officer recommended our case for approval but heard nothing until things began falling south. I've tried everything to make things right with the MRS. I even took responsibility for a child that isn't mine. ( I did not sign any birth certificate tho). I took care of that child until a few months ago when I could take it no more. My international passport has been destroyed by the MRS, marriage certificate withheld, bank accounts emptied, lost count how many times I've been kicked out simply because my mother in law sees me as a people of color. I really don't know what to do no more!!!

That’s a very tough one but there is nothing new in this world ..you won’t be the first neither the last ..Just try and do the needful so that you can be free from the hands of this evil people..so how did your first interview go,were you separated and did you guys missed some part of the questions..cause you need to explain everything to your lawyer so you he can know how to address your issue, cause they might be thinking you wanna use i360 as an escape route..how did your first interview go and did the reschedule you people for second interview...

Thank you for the swift response.

Would you recommend self-filing or the use of a good immigration attorney?

I have all the evidence I need and more.

Thanks again.

I will recommend to go with a qualify lawyer.

It can be someone from where you live or from any other State. Please ask @sandranj best, she is a Professional in this matter. Best Luck!

Hiring a Lawyer should be between $3.5k up to $7k plus applications. This is what I had heard from different people applying for Vawa.

Good afternoon all! I was wondering if now that I have my ead and waiting for my ssn to come. Can I apply for fafsa? Last time I called to fafsa they told me I have to be a permament resident but I dont think the person I called knew about non citizens that qualify for fafsa. I want to apply for fafsa because my summer classes will be 827 each. 1600 in total 😓 and thats too much for me. Do yall think I can apply for fafsa with prima facie and once I have my ssn? I havent apply for fafsa yet because i didnt had a social last year and now im barely going to have it.

If you your marriage last more than 2 years, and  your wife or husband decide to submit a petition for you then you will get 10 years GC

I received a letter with a list that had check boxes on what I needed to bring. That includes the interview notice, passport, EAD, picture ID, i94, employment letter and or pay stubs, i698 (medical), and all copies of documents that submitted to the uscis for my case.

Aside from that, I also brought my birth certificate, marriage license (if your still married) and all my old passports with all old US visas.

She only asked to see the passport, picture id, ead, i94, and she asked for the medical which I didn’t have at the time.

But every officer asks for different things. So if you have the list from your interview notice, then bring everything they asked on the list.

Thank you very much
