Yeah..when I saw my RFE I just cried to God! I said here Lord this one's for you..there's no way I'm doing that! Even my attorney didn't believe I was gonna make it..but God came through! That's why I relentlessly want people to be comforted, to have hope..to believe! All things are possible!!!

timeline:

january 2018- sent i360 packet and work permit application

february2018- recieved prima facie 

april 2018- received work permit and travel parole card in mail 

So far since then ive been gettin my prima facie renewed every 6 months. 

 

 

 

They're still working on 2017 cases for now..but definitely we're soon going to start hearing of 2018..yes you'll keep receiving prima facie renewal until your case is adjudicated..at some point if they need anything from you..they will let you know! Patience pays here! Good thing you have a combo card! 👍

Hi @dreamer1 , wanted to share my own experience with school. My VAWA just got approved in April. I started my Masters program last year September(FALL) . The only thing i needed is my prima facie which had not expired to show the school and you will need print some page online from US education department showing that VAWA applicants can get financial aid. https://studentaid.ed.gov/sa/eligibility/non-us-citizens 

 

Some of the schools know and some dont. so show them that page. when you do they wont disturb you anymore. I particularly didnt have any issues with my school.  So, you can go to school with a pending VAWA application. 

Thanks @blujewel! I appreciate it very much. I have just received my case received receipt only. how does the prima facie work in terms of do I need to apply or will the need be determined and awarded by Vermont  as an internal process?

Submit everything you have including the tax you filed as married even though your spouse didn't want you to add her..explain in your affidavit why and the argument that you had..you pretty much have what you need! Believe me even with the extensive RFE I received..I didn't really have a whole lot of documents to support my petition but explained why intensively in my affidavit! There was a valid and credible reason why with proofs! I had letters to both of us..few bills, lease, monthly receipts, landlord wrote a letter,  pictures, self affidavit, letter from family and friends, from his side and mine..and the GRACE of GOD! 😊😊😊🙏

I think that was nothing comparing to when I had received 5 RFE. Good Moral Character, Bonafide Marriage, Shared Residence, Extreme Cruelty and Qualified Relationship.

OMG! What happen you did not submit much proof on your initial application?? Vawa unit is so extreme....

if my spouse was a green card holder, can i apply for work permit ?

When I saw this I remember when my attorney told me my case was gonna straight up get denied but you just have to explain everything in your affadavit. For eg. if the lease is in your name and not your wife/husband, explain why. Explain everything as best as you can in regards to your evidence.

It wasn’t Vermont. My lawyers didn’t have a clue about VAWA so they submitted just a few things like pictures, forms and text messages. I started to read and found this forum and automatically knew I was gonna get RFE. And from there I got Prima Facie, biometrics etc. when I got the initial RFE I-797C I started  putting everything together and make use of all the time. When I submitted evidence basically it was a complete file with affadavit, police clearances, more pictures, more text messages etc. and here I am today with my green card. Don’t lose hope and don’t be afraid when you get a RFE. It better than getting a denial notice.

TRUE! Affidavit is the power box! 📦 it illuminates every dark area of your experience! People! Please make your affidavits super detailed! Leave nothing out! Bare it all!! I remember writing my affidavit it was like re- living every horror..sometimes I cried..writing..and writing..pains..but I poured my heart out into my affidavit!

It took me a long time to write my 15 page affadavit. It was hard because when I reached a certain section I had to stop and take a break and every time I read it over for errors it was tough. But your affadavit is the main source of evidence. Everything else just supports what’s in your affadavit.

Please if you have not gotten prima facie and you believe you need it..request it..ask your attorney to request it promptly! You will have to wait for your vawa to be approved to get EAD under vawa..greencard spouse..
