Hi everyone,

I had my I-485 marriage base interview today at Federal Plaza  Nyc.. I had the nicest officer, me and my lawyer did not had the time to request the I-485 to be held, He said your husband is not here, what happened? lawyer handed the I360 receipt he said i see, give me a second let me verify my computer, He said a t6 file was created by Vermont  (not sure whats that) we cannot do an interview today, I will sent your

I-485 to Vermont to be together with your I-360 once Vermont approves it they will ship back

to us and we send you another interview notice.... he ask me if I was divorce i answer not yet, he said is my husband USC OR LPR I answered LPR, he said let me have your ID... after that he ask me anything you want to add to your I-485 more abuse proof so we can ship together with your i-485 my lawyer said no, we will wait for Vermont to request... He said Ok. have a nice date... we left

Hello guys, am new on this page please assist with any possible info

On my behalf My lawyer filled for vawa in March 2018, got my EAD May 2018, since then I haven’t heard anything and my EAD expires next week , he already file for EAD renewal late March 2019 and till now I haven’t recieved my receipt, I have called USCIS to ask for update I was told my case is with vawa not USCIS. And vawa do not have a contact number.

Help guys!

Renewals can take a long time to process too but 2 months without even a receipt is a little too much. Did your lawyer send it to the right place? Vermont?

Yes he did, infact, the first renewal application was in March which they responded that the application category was wrong Or let me say not found, then he sent in another one which seems to be the correct one.

so he gave me my copy of their response, when I was going through I noticed the initial category was C31 but he filed C09, I went back to him with the hope he made a mistake, then he brought out my file and showed me, the first time he filed for my i130 with category C31, vawa approves my EAD with C09 on the document, so when he filed for renewal he used C31 since that was what he initially used then it’s was returned and he now send in C09 which seems to be the correct one, and we haven’t heard back since then.

I hope you understand my explanation

Hi dear I can understand that this can be very distressing, but it will all come together! Your lawyer should have filed for renewal much earlier it helps! Receipts sometimes take long to come in..you will still get it..although it's taking really long..guess they are really backlogged! Your case is definitely with USCIS..was wondering when you said it was with vawa not uscis😊 Vawa is the petition handled by the Vermont branch of USCIS! They probably are not updating you via phone because vawa cases are very confidential! Your lawyer needs to be more proactive..sometimes if you don't follow up, they relax as well..you need to be on top of matters concerning your case..pressure the lawyer from time to time!  They wouldn't like it but it's for your own good! Tell your lawyer to schedule and infopass or better still contact your congressman to enquire on your behalf for things to move along! Google your representative call or go visit them..table your enquiry!

Thank you so much, i have read about the congressman here but not sure on how to go about it, I guess I will just look up phone number to call, as am not sure my lawyer will want to do this for me.

Precisely my point! You need to be proactive about your case as the lawyer will not want to go extra for you! Like I suggested you could google..search out their address and phone number..call...go there..whatever you want to do but you have to get it going! I applied for my renewal EAD c9 category since Feb and they're still processing it! Yes I have my receipt notice. If it wasn't for my vawa approval that consequently put the c31 EAD in my hands, I would have been perplexed right about now!

Your Lawyer should always renew EAD under C09 if you have I-485 pending. C31 is for an approved I-360... (and he should have done the renewal at least 4 month prior to expired)  Your receipt delay in usual, and to contact congress person you will need to provide a receipt number which don't have now. VAWA at Vermont services center does have a contact number for attorney this number is on your I-360 receipt is VAWA T/U customer center hotline: 1-802-527-4888 they may said an officer will called back within 24-72 hours and the officer will call your lawyer.  Your lawyer can also write to Vermont to inquired and see what happen with the receipt. Hope is not lost and you may have to refile again. But if the tracking said it was delivered they most have your application.
