I’ve been married and still married to my wife for three years and for the last two years I’ve suffered great emotional, psychologically and financial abuse from my wife.

I’ve been scared to involve the police or speak to anyone cause the society feel men do not get abused or beaten by their wives.

Am am about to petition for vawa and I was told by my attorney that I need to start counseling and abuse therapy. I live in Houston Texas. I’ve googled for places to start therapy and counseling. I don’t even know where to start from. Am still in my shell and don’t just want to speak to just anyone about this.

Does anyone who live in Houston Texas know of any place I can have individual counseling?

There is an amazing counselor in Texas ,and she drafted several psychological evaluations, and all my cases that I used the evaluation written by her were approved.I will send you through pm her contact ok.

Good afternoon to you all, quick question. I have a biometrics appointment. I know that I have to give fingerprints but does biometrics relate to anything like EAD or approval process or it's just a procedure?

Blessings

It's a procedure that eventually leads to..even if it's not directly related to EAD..in other words it's a process😂😂 that's how I see it at least..none of us works at any USCIS office my darling sister!😂😂😘

:D:D I thought so. . . at least you are better than most lawyers. I drove by to my lawyer's office today to pick up  my prima facia extension and the office assistant were like "did you know that you have a biometric appointment on wednesday?" No dear you tell me, Thank God I stop by there today, I was almost missed it.

There is no guarantee they will expedite but it doesn’t hurt if you ask to expedite .

I have asked my lawyer already but he seemed upset when I even asked him about it and told me that my EAD should come sooner by summer time. It’s frustrating that my family helped me pay him as scheduled but whenever I request that, he’s quick to turn it down :( @sandranj thank you for responding

Expedite!!! Write to your congressman and ask for help with the expedite if you have a job offer letter. I had two EADs (one based on the previous marriage petition and another one was a renewal after submitting VAWA) and I expedited both via either a congressman or ombudsman. Waiting is not an answer with USCIS. In my experience, expediting with the Congressman's help was always faster

Hi @lolaB998 thanks for responding. So, it worked for you? You’re so lucky! So what do you do first? Compose a letter, gather all documents and show up at your Congressman/Ombudsman’s office? So, they verify all your documents and call USCIS to ask for expedite in your behalf?

If you want to travel to your mom you need to apply for expedited AP. While the card can be an EAD/AP combo card each thing (EAD and AP) are different things. It is possible to get the EAD expedited and also to get the AP expedited but you have to ask for each expedite individually and qualify for each expedite. There is a thread in the main forums with people who are attempting to expedite EAD- many have done successfully however lately they are getting more strict. A lot of people started asking for expedites when the processing time was slowed down.

There are various ways to expedite but for VAWA petitioners the best way it use the congressperson. They usually have a intake form on their website or a form for you to print out and sign to bring with you to the appt that gives them permission to speak to USCIS. Check your congresspersons website for how to meet with them for immigration help. Bring all your papers and they will help you submit an expedite and follow up on it for you. Ask for both EAD and AP expedite if you need both.

If I were you, I would start drafting the letter to your Congressman tonight. Tomorrow you should call the office, get all the forms and fill them out. Explain how you need to start working and you even have a job offer. Send all the info/paperwork to your Congressman. Write a good and concise letter. It does help. I went this route, and I’ve read so many people did the same and it worked. Good luck!!! You are not alone.

@escape thanks for responding, do I need to inform my lawyer that I am going to do this by myself? Some say it delays the application, weird as it is, is that true? So, after getting all the necessary documents I’d go there and do they interrogate me? I am starting to gather the necessary stuff before I go there. Do you have a draft sample?

I feel for you 😔 just pray hard and get the Congressman Office to help you out! I know how hard it is but you can not go until you get all in order here. My prayers 🙏🏼 for your Mom and you case to move promptly 🙌🏼

Thank you @FridayGirl@69 it’s extremely difficult. This month will also be my divorce trial and it keeps extending due to my crazy ex’s antics of not showing up because he’s sick etc.  it’s such a drag to hell.

Hi very sorry to hear this..wow! Just wondering why your lawyer is discouraging you in every way..most people here have been able to expedite with a job offer! If you can't trust your lawyer or do not have much faith in him or her..simply turn to your congress person for help and explain your situation..and also bring to their attention your mother's condition and job offer if you can back it with documents it will help! Did you explain to your lawyer how desperate your situation is..especially your mother's condition? He must not know what he's doing or have a conscience! For now you can ask to borrow some money from close friends if you really want to contribute to your mum's medical expenses..then you can always pay back later because for sure your ead will be approved! Just a matter of time following due process but in your case you can expedite! Try out the options above...hopefully we get more helpful contributions. Please do be easy on yourself..it's not every situation that is under our control! Sometimes I feel helpless too in other regards..just hand it all to God in prayers! I wish your mum speedy recovery and I sincerely hope your situation is addressed timely as well. Godbless!

Thank you @Stillwinning!!!😊, you’re absolutely right. In every solution that I can think of, my lawyer is quick to turn it down yet quick enough to receive all the checks that my sister has been paying. It worries me a lot that my mom can’t travel and that she has this illness. I just want to be able to support her needs. It’s excruciating to wait, I am not complaining at all but in times like this esp if it’s our mom or dad who’s sick, it makes me so depress and beyond frustrated. Thank you for your encouragement! I do appreciate it
