Hello everyone, I've been reading your posts and it helps a lot in dealing with my anxiety and sadness. I need your opinion please. My mom had a mini stroke two weeks ago and I was extremely worried as she had to have medications for treatment and health maintenance back in my home country. Also, I wanted to help out financially even if I can't go home to see her which makes me extremely desperate to seek for solutions. I have asked my lawyer before about my case that an employer wanted to hire me and is willing to send me a job offer letter but I was turned down by my lawyer. According to him, my EAD should come in summer soon and that expediting doesn't really do anything to my case. Now that my mom had the stroke, I am desperate and sad that I couldn't do anything to help her esp with her treatment and medications. Will her medical problem help in expediting my case to receive the EAD? Please help me, I need all your experiences and suggestions.

Expedite!!! Write to your congressman and ask for help with the expedite if you have a job offer letter. I had two EADs (one based on the previous marriage petition and another one was a renewal after submitting VAWA) and I expedited both via either a congressman or ombudsman. Waiting is not an answer with USCIS. In my experience, expediting with the Congressman's help was always faster

Ok..so when you say alot of people get the interview around 8months did you mean people who live in NYC? Because It's according to your local office most of the times! Also didn't USCIS update your status to case was transferred to another office after vawa approval? 😕

NYC local offices are taking between 12/16 months to set up the interview.

There is no guarantee they will expedite but it doesn’t hurt if you ask to expedite .

It says the change of address must be done within 10 days of moving in.

I moved last month April 1st, it has been more than 10 days now

Faillure to report application will be deny.

I dont know what to do now

They will not deny because you changed your address and did not inform USCIS within  10days.

I’ve been married and still married to my wife for three years and for the last two years I’ve suffered great emotional, psychologically and financial abuse from my wife.

I’ve been scared to involve the police or speak to anyone cause the society feel men do not get abused or beaten by their wives.

Am am about to petition for vawa and I was told by my attorney that I need to start counseling and abuse therapy. I live in Houston Texas. I’ve googled for places to start therapy and counseling. I don’t even know where to start from. Am still in my shell and don’t just want to speak to just anyone about this.

Does anyone who live in Houston Texas know of any place I can have individual counseling?

You need to call police for any time you feel in danger, don’t be afraid!

You need to start going to therapy and let your general doctor the situation so they can guide you.

You need to start collecting not only evidence of the abuse but Birth Certificate, Marriage Decree, Mortgage Document,Bank Statements, etc...

just to start with... plus affidavits of family and friends watching the Abused.

Hi, I do not live in Houston, but I just wanted to assure you that men can sometimes be the victim. There are successful male petitioners here..and please don't be scared to speak up..to police or any relevant authority if you feel endangered! This is a beautiful place where we hold hands without seeing eachother! Hang in there..and hold on here..someone will be of help in no time. But you can google places close to you for counseling/therapy sessions. Your lawyer is right you really should start therapy. If you're still going through abuse, document them accordingly..Cheers.

It's ok dear, see my updated response..I added a few more tips.😊

I have a quick question. I called a place in Houston now and they offer just counseling and no mental evaluations. The first session is free and they are very knowledgeable about vawa as she said. She said I’ll have to attend a few  sessions with my counselor before the counselor will write a letter showing I attended sessions with her.

My question - For those who have submitted and being successful with their vawa applications. Did you submit prove of counseling and mental evaluations OR just counseling ?

Proof of counseling is apparently the evaluation report the therapist/counselor writes upon completion of the whole process! In the report they should be able to state your situation..as you reported to them, input your state..how they think it has affected you, the sessions you attended (probably 5 to 6) before filing as recommended by the attorney here. The treatment or pschological evaluation performed on you and how you responded to treatment..and possibly recommendation for further treatment/therapy sessions.. It helps for it to be detailed! My point is it shouldn't just be a letter marking attendance..or like you said..to show you attended counselling. Let them know it has to be detailed or find something else..if you have to do it, then you have to do it right!

Thank you once again and I’ll let the therapist know that it has to be detailed.

Yes! I did. I accumulated over 60 sessions plus statements from my general dr and psychiatrist.
