Hello guys, please I need help.

I am pretty desperate, Idk what to do......

I've applied for an SSN card a month ago as I got my EAD category C31 through approved VAWA.  I have my approval notice and deferred action as well.

Today I've called Social Security Office to verify why is taking them so long and I've been told that they made 3rd attempt already to confirm my immigration status and they haven't gotten any response. In addition to my frustration lady on a phone said, if they won't get any response by the end of this week they will mail me a letter where it will be said that they couldn't verify my status and I am not eligible for SSN. 😶  I mean, how come???????  Really?!!!!

I have taken a job offer already and can't set up a payroll because I don't have SSN.

Has anybody experienced something like that?

My friend from work had a similar issue. Immigration doesn't respond in time. My friend waited for more than 5 months for USCIS to respond to the SSN office. I would advise you to contact your local congressman - they are usually quite helpful! Good luck and I hope you get your SSN soon!

One of the advantages of VAWA is that  “covers” certain grounds of inadmissibility one of them is unlawful entry, worked without authorization and fallen out lawful status, and Public Charge also we don't need an affidavit of support.

For Vawa petitioners  waiver apply for more serious grounds like criminal grounds, visa fraud, public health etc...

My Lawyer explain all these too me, because was so worried...

Also VAWA help with order of removal but this have to be terminated before your go to AOS interview otherwise will be arrested.

Thank you

Can you explain about the fee? How does it possible? My I-485 (through the marriage) is still pending. I sent VAWA April 11. And didn’t get receipt number yet.

And I need renew my I-765.

Should I pay 495$ or I don’t need to pay?

Thank you for your reply!

It does not exist fee to renew the  EAD using the same category but we don't why USCIS keeps returning form I-765 if the person didn't submit the fees or the I-912, and I saw people submitting the fees to renew and then they returned the fees. Go figure.

Guys! Can you share you Sent/receipt number timeline please. I mean who applied this year.

I asked it before. I just so nervous about it.

attorney who is helping me she call to USCIS and rescheduled my interview which was April 9.

She rescheduled it for May 13.

And now situation is the next:

i have my interview May 13 but I don’t have  receipt number.

It make me scare what will be next.

Attorney called them today and they told her that they have no record about my case.

I have just USPS tracking number.

Please help with your opinion.

Go to the interview with your attorney and ask the officer to put your I-485 on hold until final adjudication of the VAWA petition, show the post office receipt number and you should be fine.

Hello guys!

Again I’m confused and need your advice.

I have asked this question two different immigration attorney and both of them give me different answers.

So I came here to ask you. Maybe you will put a light on this.

So my question is:

I have I-485 through the marriage pending. And I’m going to apply for VAWA.

So i called firs one from US Senator office and she said I can proceed with my pending case go to an interview by myself, explain issituation and see why will happen. If they will deny it just reapply.

Another attorney said I can’t do that. Like...how can I go to an interview and try to get GC through the marriage if we are in a divorce process and my “happy” I-485 is not acceptable anymore.

And I can’t use it for my VAWA case.

And I need apply for new adjustments of status.

I need your help guys.

So confused. My head is just about to explode!

You can use the I-485 if is still pending. You don't have to submit a new AOS now. You must change your address with USCIS, and when you get the letter to attend the interview you must go to the interview and ask the officer to put your case on hold, in case the officer decides to deny do not panic and go home and refile the AOS again ok.If your spouse withdraws the AOS before you have the interview then refile the AOS asap.

Hello,

I’m so glad I found this forum. I’m about to apply for vawa and have some questions. A little background, meet my husband in 2015. 2017 we got married. There was a lot of abuse in our relationship both physical and emotional but I kept telling myself that it would get better. Well things only got worst. We had our interview in April and got a paper saying it was held for review. he attacked me and my daughter after the interview so I left the house and filed for a divorce. I’m staying at my friends house and haven’t seen him since, he hasn’t been served yet with the divorce papers because nobody can find him. Well, 2 days ago I got a denial letter saying that is was denied because my husband withdrew the application. I have my package almost ready for vawa but my appointment for the phycological evaluation is next week and it will take about 15-20 days to be ready. My question is, should I send the package without it just so I don’t get a NTA and don’t have anything pending? Or should I wait to send with the evaluation risking to get a NTA before everything is filled?

I think I saw a post that I can write a letter asking them not to send the NTA, does anyone know about this?

I’ve meet with an attorney but she charges $12K and there is no way I can afford that. The probono from the catholic place had no idea about vawa and was googling it while I was talking to her so I’ll just do it myself.

Thank you!

Because your AOS was denied then submit the VAWA/AOS now and when the evaluation is ready you can submit to the USCIS. When you will submit the evaluation, later on, don't forget to add a copy of the VAWA receipt ok.

After you file VAWA you should get the receipt within 10/15 days and once you get the receipt then write a letter to the local office that denied your case and ask them not to issue the NTA because you filed VAWA and AOS.
