Didn't Ewok say that if it was grey to leave it?

Most of the time, yes. But he also mentioned that it is at the discretion of the mover aswell. IMO if a post is in a grey area and would actually benefit others (not from the UK) then it should be considered "move worthy".

I had edited and added to my post.

But don't you think it'll be greater confusion because of different embassies all lumped together and the cross-pollenation of information that may be consulate specific? I say do away with the consulate section and make them regional specific.

I don't think people benefit from other consulate info that might have nothing to do with their consulate. And I also think it would confuse some newbies.

But we can't just look at the descriptions of each forum, cos we have medical topics stickied in a regional forum.....

Oh I say we just have one big forum where anybody can post anything.

Hey, none of us stickied it, so E had to feel it belonged there.

It's not like it's a leap in being relevant to that forum.

Are you saying we should just do away with the regional forums, or is this just sarcastic? I'm unsure of your point, RJ

Point? No. Just wondering that's all.

No forums - no problems.

That way we wouldn't need organizers AND there would be no need for disorganizers, interlopers, instigators, intimidators, terminators, liberators, fornicators, coffeemakers, or bagels.

Well hell, let's just shut down the site then.

Please put away the bitterness towards me, Rebecca. We're both adults, and if you can't do that, then do us both a favor and ignore me.

I wonder why you guys like the consulate section....if there's a greaterchance of misinformation there with others not familiar with the specific consulate, wouldn't it be better left in the regional?

I thought this wasn't supposed to be the immigration helpdesk and people were supposed to be responsible for themselves and READ.

At least that's what I've heard you say before.

Ok, so what's that gotta do with the price of coffee? Boy you seem in a very antagonistic mood.

No, this is not a paid immigration helpdesk, but if the basis for moving things is to 'be more helpful' then that logic (imo) would dictate that it'd be best in the regional forums.

As one who cares to expand my knowledge I disagree. Also, having been through it, I can & did spend many days in the Embassy section of the board helping others &/or filtering for UK results. I-134 answers are the same across the board. As are many medical/P3 questions.

I'm not antagonistic. Just messing around.

As to where you think stuff should go, well you've got your opinion and you're entitled to it!

Geez, defensive much? Read what you wrote:

Just reads like an implication, that's all  my apologies then if it's unfounded!

I was piggybacking off of what mags said:

I know that you have the potential to get people answering topics that haven't got experience with that particular embassy, but before the Regionals were brought into being they would automatically get put there anyway.

I think some information can be embassy specific...and I also think that the regional forums stick out more than the embassy one. I know I saw the regional one first.

This was actually the case when I had a thread moved out of the UK discussion and into the embassy discussion. Everyone and their mother gave me WRONG information, so much so I was in tears, and my husband was on the extortion line to the embassy, which incidentally caused more drama, because the people on the phone line had the wrong information as well, and told us they had never received our packet 3 and we had no interview scheduled and at the time, our interview was scheduled and less than a week away. (not saying this is all the forum mod's fault, it was just an unfortunately chain of events that left us in a panic). And then I was told by the people in the Embassy forum "why the hell didn't you post this in the UK forum?" I told them I did, and it was moved. I actually had to go to another web site like VJ called British Ex-Pats to get the proper information, and eventually the Embassy did email my husband and I and confirm the actual information we needed 2-3 days later. Maybe not a big deal to you (err that's the general you, I'm not speaking to anyone in specific :P), but it was to us. *shrug*

Leney gets the prize for doing the smart and sensible thing.

Your answer doesn't HAVE to come from VJ.

The internet is a groovy thing.

As mentioned before, Organizers/Scouts are not superhuman, we make mistakes. But this DOES reinforce the idea that people here HAVE to take responsibility for their own cases too. Don't depend on VJ as the be all and end all.

Edit : Just saw Rebecca's answer...
