Here's my 2c :D

1. Create Regional sub-forums in the 'The Foreign Embassy and Consulate General Discussion'

2. Then the 'Regional Discussion ' sub-forums can go back to what they were originally intended for

Just casting my vote. :)

I think that when anyone starts a thread regarding moving threads or anything similar it CAN be misconstrued as inflammatory, regardless of whether or not that was the original intent of the OP.

Daisy ~ I can wholeheartedly tell you that I certainly don't feel attacked when people discuss Organizers/Scouts. However, it is an emotive subject that gets peoples' fires burning, so when anyone starts a topic, like you did, I can almost guarantee it will turn out the way it did.

The end result is ALWAYS this:

Some people don't like the new system of Organizers/Scouts.

Many others think that the Organizers move too much, even though it has calmed down considerably in many peoples' opinions.

Others don't like the regional forums.

Some people DO like the regional forums.

Some think that VJ has changed, for the worse or better.

There is a point to my waffle, of course. It is, in my honest opinion, that we simply are just re-hashing old ground and not really achieving very much. It gets people upset and annoyed and, personally, I can't see what good that does anyone except them getting fat on popcorn. :P

But I will say this, just remember that the Organizers/Scouts aren't your enemy. I enjoy spending time on VJ and having to keep defending myself and others because we have the ability to move a thread can get a little tiring. As mentioned before, I don't feel attacked, just sad really. Give us a break from time to time...please? :D

What the Vj descriptions say:

Regional Discussion

This Forum is dedicated to discussion on the major regions around the world. Topics of discussion may include travel, moving, what to eat and any other experience you may wish to share or inquire about. Have fun!

The Foreign Embassy and Consulate General Discussion

You are almost there and now you have to deal with the embassy. This is the place to post your experiences or questions related to this last step before moving to the US. Topics relating to I-134's, packets sent from consulate and medical & police certificates should be posted here. Please post your interview experiences in the review section.

... [members] ...getting fat on popcorn...

there - i trimmed the fat. (TOTALLY kidding.. Mags stated everything beautiously :D)...

that said - I don't feel attacked, and I believe part of the reason for the "title" of organizer/scout was to identify those who can explain the actions of a move or close. another fix to eliminate the sweeping things under the carpet or doing something secretively.. ya know conspiracy theories n' all that :innocent: . discussion is good.

But we can't just look at the descriptions of each forum, cos we have medical topics stickied in a regional forum.

So that shows that E feels there's some grey area, or else they would have never been stickied in the wrong forum in the first place.

Conflicting info

Oh I say we just have one big forum where anybody can post anything.

Hey, none of us stickied it, so E had to feel it belonged there.

It's not like it's a leap in being relevant to that forum.

Are you saying we should just do away with the regional forums, or is this just sarcastic? I'm unsure of your point, RJ

Well, I do remember that when the Captain was talking about the Regionals he described them as "grey areas". What this means is that there are certain threads that, when posted, fit the description criteria of two forums. If they are about the London Embassy they can go in either the Consulate discussion OR the UK forum. There is no wrong or right.

Personally? I'd prefer it if all consulate questions go in the Consulate forum. I know that you have the potential to get people answering topics that haven't got experience with that particular embassy, but before the Regionals were brought into being they would automatically get put there anyway.

Anyhoo, I've eaten too much popcorn now. ;)

I agree Mags. We should put them in one place & leave them there.

Here's a new snack for ya.

Didn't Ewok say that if it was grey to leave it?

I wonder why you guys like the consulate section....if there's a greaterchance of misinformation there with others not familiar with the specific consulate, wouldn't it be better left in the regional?

Point? No. Just wondering that's all.

No forums - no problems.

That way we wouldn't need organizers AND there would be no need for disorganizers, interlopers, instigators, intimidators, terminators, liberators, fornicators, coffeemakers, or bagels.
