I-20 renewal/extension doubts

Hi all,

My masters program got extended by a year and my I-20 is going to expire at the end of this semester and I will have to apply for I-20 extension. To submit I-20 extension I need to show my financial documents and I can provide that.

But I will have a past due from this semester's tuition fees, as due to some personal problems my family will not be able to transfer me the money until July.

Would having a past due on my tuition fees would affect my I-20 extention request? Do the people at the International office/DSO able to see my students accounts and my past due balance on tuition fees?

Many universities will not allow you to enroll if your financial accounts are not paid. Some also file in court for payments. Your family needs to get that money to you ASAP, not July.

Why are you delayed graduating? There is no logical reason an international student with good grades in the original degree plan needs to extend their graduation date. Are you just trying to delay returning to your home country?
