So I finally talked with my fiance about the carta blanca. Since he does not have a phone at his house he used the pastor's number. Well on the 23rd the pastor got a call saying it was ready, so he then sent my fiance an e-mail, but the servers were down. Finally on the 24th Thursday he ran into a friend from the church saying that his carta blanca was ready. That is when he ran to pick it up and that same day ran to go get the flight in la Habana. Honestly I do not know how it did not take long at all to get the carta blanca. I can tell you he had all the paper work for that ready before he even got approved and that he has never had any problems with the Cuban government and doesn't "own" a house or anything, which helped I am sure. Best of luck for all you at VJ, especially those going through Cuba.

Thanks for your prayers. I am in Maryland, in the Washington, DC area. I called my fiance and he was told that he may receive his carta blanca soon. I'm just waiting on his e-mail to let me know.

By the way I just read that the immigration fees are going up, are you two going to try to get married and beat the increased fees by July 30? I can't believe we will have to pay approx. $1000 to adjust status after we marry.

Anyway, God's blessings to the both of you.

:D I just have to share this amazing news with you all, since you have been such a huge support to myself and fiance during the entire process and I am sure will continue to be. Well, yesterday I got news that my fiance has already booked a flight for June 4th... so in 10 days he will be arriving!!! I had no idea he had even gotten the carta blanca to exit the country, but my guess is that he got it yesterday and went to get the flight the same day. I have not yet been able to actually talk to him (got the news from some friends of his... gotta love e-mail), but I know we are both insanely excited. I will let you all know how the POE, which will be Miami, and him getting here go. Hang in there everyone (F) and thanks for the support!!!
