i've seen a lot of messages here in the forum regarding this sponsorship thing. i encountered certain term like poverty line.

well, my fiance is a military & i am a single mom. we just want to know if what he's earning now will be enough to sponsor us. Or if we need to find a co-sponsor like the others did.

whats the income range do they require for a certain petitioner for a case of having one stepchild with the fiancee?

does this issue will not matter that much if the petitioner is a military man?

i'm just being proactive here...

thank you vey much!

Check the poverty guidelines in the link below. If your fiance is military, he only needs to meet 100% of poverty level. All the rest needs to meet 125%.

I, myself a singlemom too ;) You might want to check out http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_1327.html for 2007 Poverty Guideline and we all know that the petitioner must at least earn 125% of the poverty line. As i understand it, in able to support you and your child he must at least earn $21,463 or more for the family size of 3 which includes him, you and your child. Somebody correct me if im wrong.

Almost correct. As PW stated petioners in the US military only need 100% of poverty level.
