shows you had sex not a bonafide marriage.

For some yes but others having a child is great evidence. Remember one bit of evidence alone doesn’t prove much but it’s the totality of the evidence and the story it tells.

Why on earth do you think a child’s birth certificate is listed in the evidence examples for the i751?

I plan to attach a cover letter per the example in the VJ I-751 guide, a check for $680.00, and the completed I-751.

Am I missing anything?

More than enough 😁 Are you attaching a copy of your marriage license? And joint taxes going back as far as you can? Just making sure 😉

Good luck and thank you for all that you do!

Sharing a house more important than sharing a child? :D

Yes.  I spent 9.5 years with my ex-boyfriend who is the father of my child who refused to get married or co-mingle any finances, cars, our home etc... just because you have a child together doesn't a relationship make.  Otherwise people with kids would never divorce and there would never be single parents.

We have a total of 21 joint checking account statements.  We opened our joint account about a week after my wife arrived.  I think I'll include all of them.

Thanks everyone.

I would.  I included all of our bank statements but we didnt have any joint credit cards. Your original list is more than enough.

When it comes to your tax returns make sure you are submitting the IRS tax return transmittal and not just a copy of your return.  You can go to www.irs.gov and get an instant copy after you confirm who you are.  Or you request copies mailed to you.  You will also need them when you apply for US citizenship in a few years!

God bless

Just a note, you can send either transcripts, or copies of returns along with W2s/1099s as either are accepted.  It is a good idea to pick either one or the other and not to confuse USCIS by mixing or matching them.

We wouldn't be discussing this topic if a couple was not (at least at one point) married and tried to work towards sharing life together. Unless it's fraud, spending 3-4 years on this process and not having any documents supporting the relationship... that would be very strange. So while yes, you are correct that a child does not justify a relationship,  your example doesn't really fit, but I'm sorry you had to deal with that regardless.

Which is the point on why having a child together doesn’t negate missing other pieces of evidence.  They all are pieces of a puzzle, that together, make up a whole picture.

No one item presented, or one item missing, will destroy the veracity of a marriage.  It’s a balance of logic.

My husband and I have not been able to successfully get through an entire pregnancy, so we have no birth certificate to produce, but that doesn’t weaken our case.

You have a birth certificate (along with other evidence), and a lack of a joint deed will likely not weaken your case.

Some folks rely too heavily on one piece or another, instead of focusing on the big picture :)

LOTS of folks, unaware of the immigration process and requirement, think having a baby with a USC is a sure shot to citizenship (anchor babies), which obviously is untrue.

I think this is more of discussion points than criticism.  If you are not going to deed the house to your wife, that’s of course your choice, and you have good evidence outside of that.  Other people may just take the approach of erring on the side of an abundance of caution, as to not have the potential for a question of why.

RoC is a very subjective filing.  YOU present your circumstances in the best way possible.  Your list will vary from someone else’s.  No one should be overly concerned with trying to match another filing as each couples relationship is unique to them.  As long as evidence

is quality, none of us should have anything

to worry about :)

Absolutely, all evidence are just pieces of overall puzzle. It's just strange to see some people making a statement that it's not good evidence, since it's 'just sex', while it's not only stated on 751 instructions as example of evidence, but also on RFE letters that some members have posted they received.

Why does the child thing have to clog up every forum? Can we all just agree that it can be used as a piece of the puzzle just as anything else? No, it’s not a one and done solid piece of evidence, and it’s also not useless. Why do we have to keep going through this 😂

This may be silly but I wonder if USCIS would value evidence of having undergone marriage counselling? My husband and I undergo counselling and I wonder if I should include that or if that’s ridiculous haha.

I don't see how it could hurt to include that...that's certainly evidence of you two doing something together and working on your relationship, so why not?
