I also have the same question as @Gabrobill. It’s been 3 weeks since my case was transferred to NVC and even though I’ve been calling, still they haven’t received it 😕

Actually I did actually make a phone call and found out they received it September 10. NVC customer service rep told me that they wont notify us on when they receive our case from USCIS since its not value added and they will much better work on cases than sending notification letters. With that said the man i spoke to mention that they will only sent out a notice when they are ready to work on the case.
He also mentioned for me to look at the website travel.state.gov and states what cases date received that they are working on. I got my notice that my case was being sent to NVC which is 2 weeks received (September 10th). A ask if they can provide me a case number and the customer service rep said it will take 3 more weeks. Also to add that rep seemed annoyed that I inquired about this and he said not to waste my time calling and waiting on the phone for hours instead check the website every Monday afternoon.

Yes, my NOA2 date is the 17 of this month. No, I did not. I just received the letter today. The status online still says received, it hasnt been updated.

Okay that could be why your online status is not updating. I setup e-notifications on my I130 and it worked great and everything is updated. I submitted my I129F without the e-notification form and the status online hasn’t been updated for 2 months now even though I received my letter 1 month ago.

When you submit your petition you were supposed to include the G-1145 which is the e-notification form. At this point it doesn’t matter for you as your pretty much done with the USCIS stage. I only mentioned this so you understand why your status online isn’t updated.

How do you know that your case was sent to NVC from USCIS? Is it the approval letter for NOA 2 where they say the case was approved and they are forwarding it to dhs or do you get an online notification or email?

We got an email and online update. I wonder how long it takes from that update to the day they actually create a case number.

Oh ok well I will look out for that, thanks. I have no idea how long the case number takes because I’ve been seeing differing timelines.

I received an unexpected text and when I checked my email it stated that my case had been sent to Department of State.  This was roughly 21 days after my NOA2.

I called inquiring about that same thing.  From my understanding, it can take 6 weeks from the time of approval or 6 weeks from the time of notification that it was sent to the DoS.  They are very unclear with that.  I am assuming that 2 weeks after they have sent the approved package to NVC is the best time to start calling.  This is only what I have seen on FB.  There is another group forum on here that definitely has more details than any other site that I have seen.

There truly is no consistency and no clear formula to this.  I definitely like the black and white versus so many unknowns that we see everyday!

Oh thank you so much for your info. Please keep us updated about your case number since you’re ahead of me.
