Well I have already got my petition approved and recieved a message from NVC. So I am already 6 months into the process. It is not a big deal I will get a joint sponsor if that makes Montreal more satisfied if I can support myself in America. The whole point she didn't get a job yet is because she is living at home and we are planning to move out of her home state and just graduated college this year. It's kind of a mess but that's what I am working with right now. 😕

I guess the big picture is, is that they don’t want you to have to sponsor yourself. The idea is that your fiancé is suppose to be able to sponsor you or find another USC to sponsor you. For AOS your wife will be your primary sponsor no matter what.

note the reason for this is, they can’t hold you accountable if you fall on bad times and end up on the system and a public charge but they can hold a USC accountable if they wanted too.

with that said, the only harm in trying to self sponsor is that you get told no and asked for a joint sponsor. If you at least go there with a joint sponsor already ready then you’ll be covered on both ends.

If you’re sitting on 1mil USD you could probably just buy yourself a green card lol

It will probably be hard to get a true answer here. The laws are worded vaguely on purpose and everything about this process can become situational.

At the end of the day, bring absolutely as much information as possible. I personally do not take chances. I always submit house deed, bank account statements, official credit reports, 401k balances, all stock holdings, tax returns, letter from employer, and a letter from my bank listing date account opened, average running balance, and current balance. The letter from the bank is usually called "Deposits-Consumer Fulfillment-Confirmation of Account Standing". You can do this for both beneficiary and petitioner.

In your case you would want all that information from the co-sponsor as well. Unfortunately, you will be at the mercy of the individual reviewing your case. You can have your beneficiary dress nicely to the interview for a final touch (but not suspiciously nice).

I self sponsored but have never heard of this option being available in Canada.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”
