Hello, me and my girlfriend in Vietnam have decided to start our K1 fiance visa. I have a lot of questions as to what is the best route to take? Lawyer vs Rapidvisa vs DIY? Neither of us have children or were ever married before, it should be fairly simple but I'm willing to spend some money to keep everything going smoothly, especially if it makes it easier for her. Does anyone have any recommendations please?

Thank you!

Save your money.  It is a long and expensive process, and no service or lawyer can speed it up or cut corners for you.  Follow the USCIS checklist, and come here with questions when you have them.  Most of us have done/are doing this very process, and we’ll help you!

You can use your money for visits, it is a simple process, instructions are simple ! paying a service won't make it easier or faster

Good luck

I would definitely agree with the above advice...I think sometimes adding a third party, such as Rapid Visa or similar, can actually slow things down.

My fiancé used a third party company to deal with his divorce - and they did absolutely nothing to help the process, they just slowed it down by adding an extra step (send them the documents, for them to ‘check’ and send on to the court)...and actually, their checking was less than pointless, as they didn’t spot where mistakes had been made...so his divorce was still delayed - he ended up dealing with it all himself after that and I checked his forms for him instead - and that’s when the divorce actually started moving.

The problem is, the companies don’t have a personal, vested interest in getting your application dealt with as quickly and smoothly as possible - they’ll have hundreds or thousands of customers, all going through the same process, so they’ll just be going through the motions. Yes, it’s helpful to have a second person review your info and give advice on what goes where - but the people on this forum can definitely help with that and I’m confident they’d do a much better job than a company.
