Hi,

I am wondering if it's ok to stretch the truth a bit in terms of my fiance's employment history on the G325A form. He lives in a country where many people work in the underground economy/black market because no one can get by with the salary of a regular job. He has had state jobs but was last employed 2 years ago - would it be dangerous to extend the dates of his employment at that job? How closely do they check up on that information? Or is it the local embassy officials that do the employment verification when the forms get to them?

Thanks

No, it is not ok and there's no reason to anyway. They only use the employment information to determine whether the applicant worked in jobs that would disqualify them from immigrating to the US. There is no routine "employment verification". Just indicate self employment for the open time and give an occupation that describes the self employment. For instance if he is selling some sort of goods, say X merchant. As long as the X isn't something like heroin etc. no worries.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...
