Is there any way to request the document back?? I'm gonna file for a i-751 waiver this year with a divore decree. I'm trying to collect evidences as much as i can. Im not gonna be able to request it to my previous landlord since we didnt end in good terms. We werent able to finish the lease because me and my spouse got seperated.

I dont think you can get that back.

Why would you even give immigration your lease? You're suppose to just give copies..

I guess you can try a G-884 just don't know how much luck you will have with it.

Try the landlord even though it may ended badly he/she may be able to give you a copy.

Yes, im planning to do the g-884. I think it wouldnt work if I request it to my landlord. Im really desperate because i dont have a lot of evidences. Do you think it'd be a good idea to make an affidavit together with my i-751 and tell them this situation?

I would till try the landlord. All you can get is a no. You just have to try. Just remember you need much more than just the lease. Did you have joint any kind of insurance? Health, car, life and so on? Joint bank accounts, joint credit cards?

Also, you can get the tax returns for the years you filed jointly. You came if 2015 right? So you can send 2015, 2016, 2017 and I guess you were also married in 2018. So get those so you are showing you were filing as a married couple those years.

We just have a bunch of pics with my family and friends, apartment lease, joint account and life insurance. Unfortunately, he didnt want me to include in his tax return. He told me he'd get less if he did that.

Well, he had too. Are you sure you guys didn't just file married but separately?  You have to figure that out! You can contact the IRS yourself.

Uhh tax law requires people to file under the proper marital status. You can't file as "single" just cause you want more money. You'll need to get that amended. As for the lease, the landlord is probably the best bet. Not sure why you gave the original lease to the officer and also waited this long to fix the issue. It says everywhere in USCIS' form instructions to provide copies only and that nothing is ever returned.

I think getting a new copy of the lease from a landlord you ended on bad terms with will be a more successful venture than getting it back from USCIS. Unfortunately, you should have only provided them a copy of the lease, not the only one you had. Documents are rarely returned.

Håll ut, y'all.
