Hi! I just walked in to the St. Louis, MO office today, 5 days prior to my scheduled appointment in order to avoid taking time off work. The security guard had no questions, just checked letter and ID. The biometrics tech did not have any questions either.

Ft. Worth, Texas. 2/12/20 early walk in, was accepted (original appointment for 2/24/20). There was only one other person waiting. The agent did manage to say "usually we only do walk-ins in the afternoon, but we're not busy, so we'll take you". This was for I-90, initial green card has the wrong "resident since" date.

Adding to this even though I adjusted from a student visa, not a K-1:

Oklahoma City, OK: successful. Walked in in July 2018. The guard let me in but said I'd have to wait to see if they had time left. I was the last one to be called, but there was no problem.

Went to Norridge at around 2:45pm, about two weeks before my actual date. Place was empty, two technicians on duty. Guard acted like it was a big deal he let me do it sooner but woman behind front desk was already filling form in for me. All it took was asking nicely and cracking some jokes with the guard.

It depends and is different from ASC to ASC. It’s up to their own discretion. But people have been able to go to other ASC’s, the only way to know for sure is to try it.

Attended Cranston, RI office today. Appointment was for 03/03/2020. They were not too pleased that I just walked in, gave me the run down on how to reschedule but took me anyways seeing how there was virtually no one there. Arrived at about 8:10am with appt letter and passports.

10 mins in and out. Fill out simple form, get pic taken, give fingerprints, and we were on our way. Guy at the front counter did advise that had we arrived 10 mins later, they likely would not have been able to accommodate as office filled up very quickly.

if you choose to walk in, it really is a gamble, and you have to be prepared to be turned away. Hope for the best/prepare for the worst. Kinda my motto for the whole immigration process 🙂
