Oh darn... why would they do that to us?
It would be much more logical to just send the message that an interview has been scheduled when the document is uploaded... This way it doesn't really help me much... on the contrary..

Thanks for the info and all the best for your interview next week!!

We passed the N-400 (and I-751) interview yesterday!  They asked 6 civics questions, which he easily passed:

1.  What is the US economic system?

2.  Name a state that borders Canada.

3.  What is the capital of the United States?

4.  What is the capital of this State?

Can't recall the other two right now.

He was then asked to write "The people elect Congress."  He even misspelled a word (as he was nervous) and they passed him.

I messed up a bit because the interviewer asked me (as they did the I-751 interview at the same time) what our date of marriage was.  I didn't say the year.  He also asked husband's full name, his DOB, and our address.  We also had to produce a lease copy (though we had produced this before in the N-400).  Thankfully we had it.

The interviewer made it clear that the fact that we had a biological child born in the US together was a big deal (I don't know why biological and born in the US were big deals, but they were).  This was important for this interviewer at least, as he said "I am not in the business of separating families."

Getting sworn in tomorrow, and we have to fill out the paperwork the field office gave us.  Can only bring one guest (so that's me) but attorney can join with her bar card.

We are also changing my husband's name so it works a little better in the US, so we have to run around a bit with the SS card, the driver's license, etc.  But we are feeling great now!

Best of luck to everyone out there still waiting.  Honestly, we had a long road- my husband is a Syrian national who got rejected several times for visit visas to the US (before and after marriage, as Syria was a high-risk country for asylum claims,) as well as 2 GC application rejections, and us getting travel banned ironically into the US.  It has been an eventful five years, but you turn the corners eventually.  Just stay out of trouble, stay working and saving money, and give the USCIS everything it wants.

Good luck!

Hello everyone,

I submitted my n400 online application on March 24, 2019. I was scheduled for biometrics on April 17. I received my scheduled interview letter on May 2nd stating that my interview is going to be on June 20th.  Everything is filed in Indianapolis, IN USCIS center.

Unfortunately, we had to cancel the appointment as we will be moving to Hawaii on June 11 (got plane tickets and everything months ago). I was hoping we would get the appointment before then :( So we had to sent them a letter explaining everything to them and I'm asking them to transfer my application to Honolulu to get the interview there.

I know my application is going to fall into so many cracks and there's going to be a delay ... but we don't have a choice. I am hoping things move as fast as they did at Indianapolis USCIS center ... *fingers-crossed*

Good luck to everyone with their interviews and the N400 in general!

^

^

Haven't heard anything since I sent the letter explaining our situation on May 4th ... I have no expectations ... has anyone heard of a situation similar to mine? Does anyone know what might be happening/not happening to my application?

Good luck to everyone! and congratulations to those who got their interview and oath ceremonies set up 🙂

First of all, congratulations to everyone! I am loving the good positive vibes!! Unlike 6 months ago where we all were stuck in this waiting game with no news whatsoever. Now it seems like everyone is making progress!

As for my situation above, I FINALLY got a letter today with an interview being scheduled for September 17 in Honolulu! Flight is booked and I cannot wait to get it done!!

Best of luck to everyone !!

My wife had her citizenship interview on Monday, August 12th.  The officer who did the interview was very easy going, friendly, and instantly put her at ease.  The whole process only lasted about 15-20 minutes.

The questions she was asked were;

1.  Who is the current President?

2, What do the 50 stars on the flag represent?

3. What is the name of the ocean on the East coast?

4. What is one right reserved only for American citizens?

5. What does the cabinet do?

6.  ?

The officer told her she had passed and that she would receive a letter within 30-45 days, but that it usually arrived much quicker.  He then handed her a sheet detailing the results of the interview.  He checked of the box "You passed the English test and the U.S. history and government test." , but halfway down the sheet there are two boxes; A "Congratulations!  Your application has been recommended for approval." & B "A decision cannot be made yet about your application."

We didn't read the form until after we had left the office and were on our way to our hotel to check out.  When we saw that Box B had been checked we went back to the office and my wife explained the situation to the receptionist who then went back to see if she could find out the reason.  When she returned she said that the officer was new and that all of his cases were reviewed before final approval and to not worry.  We were relieved, but until you finally hear about the oath ceremony you still worry.

This morning (Aug. 16th) the status changed to "Oath Ceremony Will Be Scheduled."

Needless to say we are happy that the journey is almost over.

Best of luck to everyone!
