Hello,

Everything is finished, she is getting her sticker from Davao on Monday morning! We are looking at flights and I currently have a window open for purchasing tickets. I am worried about this though....

  • You must pay with your own credit card, and cannot use a third party or corporate credit card.
  • However, Asiana Club members who use the following credit card secured verification (optional) may use a third party credit card. (Verified by VISA, Mastercard Secure Code, JCB J-Secure)
  • Without the physical card, your boarding may be denied

according to the credit terms and International Transportation Article 3.
  • If the card cannot be verified, you may be denied boarding pursuant to our Credit Transaction Terms and Article 3 of International Shipping Terms.
  • Online payment will be processed in personal security environment, using the card issuer's verification system.

So if I book her and her daughter a flight and pay with my credit card, they may be denied boarding??? That is insane. I can't recall if you had to present your card at the counter when checking in luggage or not, but I know they don't ask at the gates.

Does anyone else have any experience with this? She has a scanned copy of my passport bio page, but she does not have the credit card info (i could scan it to her too). Would that be enough to verify? How did any of you others do it?

Theft and corruption is high in Philippines, and yes they may ask you present the Credit Card and yes they can deny you, I have had it happen to me even at hotels.

Will they ask for copy of credit card? Who know, just be prepared.

Scan a copy of the Credit Card front and back and email it, and also do an authorization letter. Remember it is the Philippines so put in their words like "Official" and "Hereby" and "Duly Authorize" ,etc to make it look really important and authoritarian.

Just when you think you have TDS eradicate,  a new case shows up.

I have bought tickets for my now wife, but then fiancee many times to come visit me in different countries while we were waiting for our K1 to process. All the airlines said as long as she has a photo of my passport Bio page, it should not be a problem. In the 3 international flights she took, they never asked her once for the Bio page. I used my credit card to book her a ton of flights while she was in Thailand, and never had a problem there either. So, at least 10-12 domestic, and 3 international flights and never an issue, and every time I paid I saw the same message, so I would not worry about it much. I used multiple airlines all the time, and never ran into a problem. The scanned copy of your card may be a good idea, but I don't think you will have a problem in my experience. I have used Air asia, Thai lion, vietjet air, emirates, delta,KLM, just to name a few.

Here on a K1? Need married and a Certificate in hand within a few hours? I'm here to help. Come to Vegas and I'll marry you Vegas style!!   Visa Journey members are always FREE for my services. I know the costs involved in this whole game of immigration, and if I can save you some money I will!

The airlines asks at check-in.

You have two options.

If you are close to an airport where that airline flies out of then buzz over there and do the credit card verification to get it on the records with the tickets.

2nd option is scan your CC front and back, email that to her to present at check-in (along with a copy of your DL as it will have your current address ;)  )    < Most do this and are fine.

Me too, I was thinking of cut and pasting the presidential seal on my letters from now on. just checked and the one trip I did buy her a ticket round trip to the Philippines, but it was round trip from Bangkok, so when she went to check in on the second return leg back to Thailand she didn't get asked anything ( I just verified this with her), but the flight originated from Thailand, and while she flew out of the Philippines she had already did one part of the flight, so maybe they didn't care as much? what airline were you thinking, just check out their contract of carriage to see what the rules are. On the subject of hotels when she met me in Dubai she arrived 7 hours before me at like 10pm, and I didn't arrive until 5am the next day, and they let her check in under my reservation with the card on file at the Holiday Inn express right by the airport with no problems, but every company is different, and I guess it depends on their individual policies. Come to think of it I have booked her many hotels for herself thru Agoda when she needed to travel for Medical, and interview, etc. and as long as she had the conformation email she had no issues, but then again those rooms were prepaid, where the Holiday Inn was not.

Another quick thought, not sure how much time you have, but you could add her as an authorized user to your credit card, and then when you get the card with her name on it in a week or so, next day air it to her in the Philippines, and she will have a physical card to show.

It can happen but it would be only so rarely.  I have booked third party flights and the third party has never asked.  And yes, third party flights from PI airports so it is not a PI thing

YMMV

I have been asked to show my credit card at airline check-in counters at NAIA, even when the ticket receipt shows that I paid for my own flight!  So yes, follow Hank's suggestion, just in case.

My asawa has as well. I remember one time she wasn't allowed to fly to Manila from Davao because didnt have a copy of my cc.

Can you use a debit card on Skyscanner? Philippines Airlines said if I purchase a ticket through the airline they only accept credit cards and will not accept a debit card?

I have used a debit card on many booking sites.  If your debit card is visa/Mastercard branded it will also process as credit,  so most likely will work on pal website

YMMV
