Hi everyone,

I'm applying for a K1 visa for my fiancee in Russia and I'll appreciate a bit of clarity. After, we received our packet 3 on 19 Feb , I went ahead and completed DS-160, paid the $265 fee and went online to complete the interview scheduling process but had to wait for our request for interview appointment to be approved. I sent an email to the Moscow embassy to inquire about our status and I just received 2 responses from ustraveldocs.com that the Embassy has received our visa petition and that the case is ready for processing, and other details about scheduling an interview; i immediately received another email that the request to schedule an interview has been approved also. My question are:

1.Are we going to receive a separate e-mail (packet IV) from the Moscow Embassy(rather than ustraveldocs.com ) with details about the medical examination process and other stuff? Or the response we got from  ustraveldocs.com is what we'll use to schedule the medical exam?

3. There are currently no interview appointments available at the Moscow embassy. anyone in the same boat and how you dealing with it?  Thanks very much

Moscow isn't very consistent with interview availability. No K-1 interview dates were open at all in December, but they opened enough in January and February dates to clear the backlog and allow almost everyone whose case got to Moscow in January or very early Feb to schedule an interview (we were fortunate to be in this group; NVC Ready on Dec 28; due to Russian holidays, Anastasia didn't get the last letter from Moscow until Jan 14 but was able to schedule her interview right away for Feb 14). And then no new dates have been made available since early Feb as far as I know.

When I paid DS-160 Fee it took a couple of days for the Schedling Interview to open .

1.) I had no problem at all schedeling our Apt for Feb-26-2019, I had 10 or 12 different dates to choose from. When I slected it showed 30 sec later in USTravelDocs.

The funny think with that at first look many apts, I called her and said what date is best, it took her 5 min to decide. It had timed out and when I went back in they were all gone but one in 3 days which I was still in US. I called her back and said they were all gone and give me a date which anytime after you can make work. She did, when I went back in the 3rd time all the 10-12 sates were back in.

2.) See also had no problem getting her medical Apt. She said, MOM said only need 1-2 days before interview. I said let's give it more time than that just in case there is a problem which she scheduled for 19-Feb-2019

All is good, today we received tracking number from Embassy by email. So will pick up  Mon or Tue at Pony Express. We selected Office Near our Hotel.

Best to all!!!!!

Still waiting (since 2/19) for the email that opens the schedule!  DHL says the embassy has the hard copy of our file.

I’m getting a little nervous.  Our file, supposedly, left the NVC in 2/19.  We received the email from NVC that verified the shipment.  Watched the 2 files in DHL move to Moscow.  Nothing since then.  The other file received an email to open the interview portion.  We didn’t.  Is it usual to not receive communication like this?  We’ve filled out the d-160 and paid the $265... what to do?  Or am I jumping too fast?

Hi, don't worry unduly. Try and send the Moscow embassy an email and they'll give you a status update. Our packet left the NVC on the same day as yours. I only got a confirmation that it's been received and my request to schedule an appointment had been approved after I sent them an email.

So I got an email response that said they don’t have my file.  I don’t know what to do

Ask again in a few days. This process has a lot of unpredictable wait times, and it's worse when Moscow is involved.

So, it’s no different than dealing with USCIS?  Even if your file arrives in the same shipment, on the same day...some will be processed and others not?  They haven’t even had a chance to look at it...I am stressing because I don’t want to fall into a black hole.  So, to be clear: you have seen this occur before for files that arrived in the same shipment?

Calendar opened on different days for everyone who was in our shipment for sure.

And there's at least one couple here who the calendar opened later than it did for us, but ended up with an earlier interview date (though mostly because we didn't want to reschedule).
