Getting biometric appointment date before NOA1

So I receive my notice for my biometrics appointment -- June 4 (yay, that was quick!)

But I haven't received my NOA1 yet -- is this normal? I'm not normally squirrely about this stuff, but there's a possibility I will have to travel back home to be with my parents before our planned trip in August. So the NOA1 is vitally important. :help:

I don't think you could call it normal, but it does happen. It did happen to me. I got my NOA a few days after my biometrics letter.

What you could do is make an Infopass appointment the same day/time you have your biometrics appointment.

So when you go in for your biometrics you could ask for your passport to be stamped in case the NOA1 hasn't showed up by then.

(Oct 09, 2007: called USCIS: service request sent to TSC)

Jan 31, 2008: case transferred to VSC (last touch date changed from 04/07/07 to 02/01/08)

Feb 01, 2008: touch

Feb 04, 2008: touch

(Feb 05, 2008: infopass appointment)

Feb 07, 2008: transfer notice dated Feb 01, 08

Feb 13, 2008: touch (Current Status: This case is now pending at the office to which it was transferred.)

Feb 25, 2008: touch

Apr 11, 2008: approval email! (only took 1 year, 34 days!)

Apr 13, 2008: 2 more approval emails

Apr 16, 2008: email notice: "Approval notice sent"

Apr 18, 2008: MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!!! card received!

both our letters arrived yesterday - same day !

Me - Gloucester England Him - Green Bay Wisconsin

1/10/05 Adjustment of status applied for for my son and I

1/19/05 Documents received and process started in Chicago

2/24/05 Fingerprinting and Biometrics done in Milwaukee

3/4/05 received in the post

3/7/05 Applied at local office in Green Bay for SSN

3/8/05 Received a print out of SSN number from the office and card is on it's way !

3/10/05 Got a job ! Server at Smokey Bones - will do for now while I'm looking for the right job !

3/16/05 card arrives

3/18/05 Got state ID Card

5/20/05 Appt interview letter received for 29th June 2005

6/16/05 After 3 interviews with Associated Bank have been offered a Personal Bankers Position to start on july 5th - excellent news 40 hours !!!

6/25/05 Passed my driving test !

6/29/05 APPROVED - Adjustment of status interview - Milwaukee

7/8/05 Green cards arrived for both my son and I

05/10/07 documents sent to lift conditions

05/24/07 letters rec'd extending green card and biometrics letters rec'd for 06/11/2007

06/11/07 Biometrics done in Milwaukee

04/11/08 letters received from UCIS transferring case to California from Nebraska service centre

Thanks. :) It's been just over a week since I received the biometric receipt, hence me getting anxious -- usually when they arrive separately, it's been within a couple of days.

but you got the actual Biometrics appointments letter yesterday? .... the NOA should be arriving shortly....

I don't think I ever received the receipt thing you mentioned....

I got my BIO appointment letter the day after I got my NOA...

from what I have seen here, some people get the BIo appointment first or the NOA and the other one comes along shortly and sometimes they arrive at the same time...

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied,that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

you're telling me! Mom is not doing so well after her most recent round of chemo, and there is a distinct possibility of needing to go home to help her and Dad out, so I am glad I have it in my hot little hands.
